C.J. Spiller: Reason for lack of playing time not for me to answer
Spiller says he’s not frustrated by the lack of activity, something that was sometimes the case for him in Buffalo as well, and that he’s also not the one to ask about why he’s spending so much time as a well-paid observer.
“I go in when I’m told to go in. There’s nothing I can change,” Spiller said, via ESPN.com. “I know what I can present to this league. So it’s the same questions, [but] there’s no different answer. That’d be something, I guess for upstairs to answer, not me. I haven’t went up there and asked for an explanation. Obviously, there has to be a reason behind it. … But I feel good, and I stay in-tuned into the game so when I am called upon I’m ready to go out there and play. Obviously, you want to play more. You’re a competitor, you want to be out there, but you can’t play with 12 people on the field.” C.J. Spiller: Reason for lack of playing time not for me to answer | ProFootballTalk |

Well he said the right thing while still making his point. The three-headed back hurts them all IMO.

CJ is a superb talent however I don't see 100% from him like I do in Ingram. Runs to the sideline far too much for my taste. It's a game of inches & we need to lay it out on the line on every single play.

Re: C.J. Spiller: Reason for lack of playing time not for me to answer
Being that CJ only get 5 touches a game, I don't think we have any right to judge how he runs.
In the last season where he saw 20 touches a game he had over 1200 rushing yards and over 400 rec yards. I doubt he will ever get more than 15 touches in any game this season unless Ingram goes down. Wasted FA pick up in my opinion. |

The last person who said something like that got traded.

Re: C.J. Spiller: Reason for lack of playing time not for me to answer
Well maybe he should put in more effort when he is in the game.
He had an easy first down if he put his so called "speed" to use, but no he just stopped and barely tried to juke and let Orakpo take him out of bounds short of a first down. We didn't score any points for the rest of the game..... |
Re: C.J. Spiller: Reason for lack of playing time not for me to answer
I have to say he is not 100% mentally recovered from the injury. He seems tentative when it comes to getting those yards after contact. YAC is a get indicator of intestinal fortitude.

Re: C.J. Spiller: Reason for lack of playing time not for me to answer
He isn't getting enough reps. They do to him exactly what they did to Sproles. It's so predictable. He's running a sweep or going out for a pass. It's stupid. You have to keep people honest. They need to ride one player for 1 half then ride the other for the 2nd half. Or even better, ride who's hot.

Re: C.J. Spiller: Reason for lack of playing time not for me to answer
Can he block? If he not good in pass protection then he will be a liability in play calls

Re: C.J. Spiller: Reason for lack of playing time not for me to answer
This is the year the RBBC is being exposed. Spiller is just a backup.

Re: C.J. Spiller: Reason for lack of playing time not for me to answer
He's not getting enough touches as was the situation in Buffalo...
So, that begs the question, "Why do coaches not give C.J. Spiller more touches?" Starting to think we shouldn't sign free agents from Buffalo... The logic escapes me how you'd assign that contract to him and not use him... Yet you scheme an entire defense around Cam Jordan when that plan clearly has failed... |

If he wants more playing time we could use him at corner. Hell he couldn't be worse than the Flag Man.

Re: C.J. Spiller: Reason for lack of playing time not for me to answer
? No clue. Clearly the best RB and a top offensive threat with 5 touches a game ? and those are usually the typical busted sweep plays our OL cant block for anymore?
What a waste. Needs 15-20 touches. If I was CJ Id leave before SP ruins my stats completely. |

You give CJ Ingrams touches and he'd blow him out of the water, even the up the middle runs. Worst thing you can do to an good RB is run him cold. He has no feel for the defense,OL, or the field. He's being mismanaged is what is happening. We are wasting the best RB we have, and could have won a few more games if they would use him. Even NE cant believe we are not using him. They considered spiller their #1 threat on the Bills. Should have traded Ingram kept Ivory, I said before. |
Re: C.J. Spiller: Reason for lack of playing time not for me to answer
we need another PT in the backfield for pass protection. That would allow SP to use CJ more like Darren Sproles or a Reggie Bush
the search continues |
Re: C.J. Spiller: Reason for lack of playing time not for me to answer
Should have signed PT instead of Hightower, in my opinion we would have seen instant results and CJ could have the opportunity to flourish.

Re: C.J. Spiller: Reason for lack of playing time not for me to answer
We don't need to use CJ Spiller like Sproles and Bush. CJ is a true RB. You use him like LeSean McCoy or Jamal Charles.

I think hes still not 100% plus he is injury prone as hell anyway even when he is healthy. They are just trying to be conservitive with him.

YR GP 2010 14 2011 16 2012 16 2013 15 2014 9 ( busted collarbone, surgery) this many game to be injury prone. Heck hes been on the field more than any of our RB's for a season and was run 20 or more plays a game up the middle for the Bills. Must be the InterNot  I say run him till be dies, thats why we spent the money for a game changer. I know its what he wants. We seriously lost a game or 2 because we wont use him. |
