Black Monday

Monday will be ugly.

RR is gone.

My prediction, first time I felt it deep and it will happen.
And RR is not alone....

Im willing to bet nothing changes...

If that's the case ill be done with the Saints until Payton is gone too. This team in it's current state is disgusting to watch.

I agree Maggie. Several will be fired.

I'm agnostic about anyone being sacked. What I do know is this: This team was blown up in the off season. The players changed, the coaches stayed the same.

More firing --

Fisher Head Coach

OC Green Bay Packer's

Peyton Manning - benched is equal to firing.

Re: Black Monday

The problem is that during the season you can only fire so many coaches....so who goes? Ryan? Cool....but that's not going to change much...this team is slow on defense....or maybe it's just was Shanle said....No hustle and no drive....they don't have any leaders...

MaggieMayTB 11-15-2015 08:07 PM

Re: Black Monday

Look at how many have been canned since season started....Detroit, Miami, Tennessee.

Chuck Pagano is gone after Colts lose first game after bye.

Re: Black Monday

Their technique is horrible....it looked like the D gave up completely after the 2nd TD.

Re: Black Monday

There has been quite a few mid season firings but unless it's a head coach not too much will change. The entire defensive staff needs to be fired and the new DC needs to be able to bring his own coaches in....

He should also have the ability to bring in players to fit the scheme he wants to run but since we are in salary cap hell for the next two years I don't expect too much with all these misfits on defense.

Every time the 'skins ran one of those screens, or short passes in general (which was basically all day) the "defenders" were eaten alive. Every single time.

Darryl Johnston (I can't stand any of the color "analysts" in any broadcast, anymore) was praising and slobbering all over the Redskins for what a great job they were doing in blocking. But the reality is our entire defense was back pedaling. There are certain guys whose job is to hold the edges and force the receiver to re-route. Then the rest of the guys have to be able to shoot the gaps and make tackles. It's no different than the principles of stopping the run.

But when there's a screen pass, the entire defense just stands there thinking someone else is going to make the tackle. And when they realize that they've lost position they start back pedaling as the entire offensive line is in the secondary by this time. It doesn't take a genius to figure out that once you start moving backwards you have no chance of maintaining any balance to shed blocks. The o-linemen just play a little two hand touch, and all our defenders are on the ground.

Basic technique discipline. This team doesn't have it.

Does RR ooze teaching defensive basic technique discipline? He is not a teacher...it was apparent in the second half of this game...the commentators pointed it out even. With our bewildered defense on the sideline, RR was just staring at his play chart...he wasn't even talking to his players.

What does he even talk about during halftime? "What did y'all do last night?...can y'all believe they have almost 400 yards on us already?" I mean, seriously?

Re: Black Monday

I felt we should have dumped RR before the season. Look at his coaching track record in the NFL. He starts out well with his new job, well ranked defenses. Then second year on, he banks on players who get hurt. The rest of his tenure he has loads of injured players, undisciplined teams, until he gets fired. Why wait? Should have canned him already.

Nope, obviously he oozes no sort of teaching prowess. And that's the grand point to take from all of this. People can blame youth and injuries, and Payton supposedly meddling. But when you lack basic technique and discipline, that shows that your coordinator is not doing his job, even IF you want to give him a pass on ALL of the other things. Pitiful.

Mind you, I'm not excusing the players for their lack of energy and effort on many occasions. But Rob is heading this thing and has been here too long for this kind of crap to be happening.

The players certainly don't get a pass...hustle, Tackling 101, and discipline helps quite a bit.

But RR is the one at the top that puts those players in positions to succeed/fail. He organizes that defense...maybe? I honestly have no idea if you could call 130 points given up in 3 games an 'organized' NFL defense...

RR during halftime was asking if could get a few crab-cake sandwiches before the plane leaves.

That stat alone should get you fired at this level.

His goose is cooked.

Interesting thought.

However, if this is the case, if intentional or subliminal, I call for releasing SP.

We are broken. The NFL is broken.

In Fantasy, I picked up a new TE.

This is when it hit home, I picked the player because MY SAINTS give up points to TE's.

That was my moment of truth.

Now, how many other NFL fans are enduring this conversation with their teams?

And WHAT IS KEVIN GREENE doing these days (since he left GRB coaching staff / Dom Capers)?

Just about every NOLA reporter I follow say that sources tell Fox Sports that Rob Ryan to be fired today. Hate to see someone loose their job but it's been time to part ways

Re: Black Monday

I don't like laying all this at Rob Ryan's feet - to do so is a mistake...

Problem is still in-house with the organization...

We stated we were changing personnel, base front and after drafting:

NT John Jenkins (Two picks to get him)
OLB Ronald Powell (Drafted, since released)
OLB Parys Halralson (Signed, Tried to convert him to DE, should have saved the trouble and just cut him)
OLB Stephone Anthony (Drafted, Prototype 3-4 ILB, Outstanding Player, Got him running sideline-to-sideline as a 4-3 MLB)
OLB Hau'oli Kikaha (Drafted, Outstanding Player, Looked Even Better in 3-4 front in preseason)
LB Dannel Ellerbe (Signed, Best years were in a 3-4 front)

So WTF did we switch back to a 4-3 this season?!?

Rob Ryan was brought in to install a 3-4 and yet we have a NT lose 50+ pounds (Jenkins) to play a 3-tech?!?

Why did we sign Williams, who, at his age should be standing off the edge as a 3-4 DE/DT and we're counting on him as a pass rusher?!?

Defensive Decisions by committee are why we are where we are on defense and this team is sucking big time...

Only reason why I want to see Ryan go is so we can see the problem will still be there and they'll be no hiding it...

Entire Defensive Staff must go, though I'd give the secondary another shot because you can't expect them to cover with no, none, pass rush...

Unless, of course, they recommended signing Browner, then they'd have to go with the other kids...

This above is awful for developing talent & continuity with any defense. Then you have Browner with that "C" on his chest with corners Breaux & Swann in their 1st year. What are we trying to accomplish on defense?

If anyone thinks this is all Rob Ryan for this historically terrible defense, I think it's the "can't see the forest for the trees" syndrome. Sometimes we get so focused on Ryan that we forget everything that led up to this point.

Its not just RR... We do need to clean house on the D side of the ball. Kick them all out but you start with the DC... you let your next one make some changes.

There's no reason to believe he won't get them back later on down the road. Its not like GMs will be jumping out their seats to get them to come coach their players.

Sorry.
I keep those numbers to myself.

Then the tax burden....and all those guys I dumped crawling out of the woodwork with reports of illegitimate children I forgot I had and never supported suing me.
