My guess is, Payton can't fire Ryan without Loomis signing off on it, and Loomis can't fire Ryan without Benson signing off on it, and Tom Benson is ... unavailable. Is a way of putting it politely.

Another way of saying the same thing: In order to fire somebody you need actual legal termination documents drawn up, on paper, and nobody is willing or able to do it right now this morning, without it coming directly down the pipeline from Tom. Which for whatever reason, it has not happened. That's my best guess.

My guess is it's out of respect. Didn't want Ryan to leave with all the media there hounding him. As a person I think Ryan is a good man but as a DC no.
Fire him without all the press camped out and if he wants to talk to the media and can after he gathers himself.

Its not a question of if, its a question of when? They are just dotting I's and crossing T's. Wouldn't surprise me that they announce it later in the week (Friday) so Allen or whoever can have a week to game plan for Houston.
