Rafael Bush on Rob Ryan's firing: 'This one's on us'

Even with all of the injuries, Ryan should have been able to put a consistently competitive defense on the field.

Sounds familiar. They loved him the first year, played hard for him, & finished as one of the best defenses in the NFL. Then they took advantage of him for the next year and a half.

Got it.

They always love the guy no matter who it is. Who's job is it to motivate and push you to be the best? If he was not doing that, he needed to go. This is what is wrong with "players" coach's. He is there buddy instead of there boss. This does not work in any profession.

It's RR fault for not being able to coach his system with the players he was given. It's poor coaching in my opinion. Now it's time to see what Allen can do.

Our defense looked indecisive, confused, tentative and weak. Many times 12 men on the field at crucial times (3rd and short), false starts, half ass tackling, alignment issues & no second half adjustments yada, yada.

This is on Rob, his assistant coaches and more importantly the players. Plenty of blame to go around but it starts with The Big Lebowski. Never met Rob but I'm certain he is as cool as can be but unfortunately this didn't help us win games.

I think you armchair Lombardis forget the level of talent required in
the NFL, and the intensity of its competition, and the simple fact that
someone is going to lose.

I prefer to take this for what it is. A man taking responsibility on his own
person and equals, for the sinking of his captain.

Im as disappointed as Ive ever been rooting for this team.
I've cussed, thrown things, moped around, and got pissed at the world.
Honestly, it would have been real easy to get into a fight with me sunday night.

But every one of these guys has a mom.

Im impressed with Rafael, the person.

Im sure I'll be back in mental face paint, thumping my chest, and in full fanatic mode for the Texans game.

for now, im just taking a moment.

who dat?

Bush's claim makes me 100% positive that we did the right thing.

I certainly don't have a problem with Rafael taking responsibility. That's great. It just doesn't change the point, in my mind. Rob confuses his own players. When you have a young defense, maybe put a little less on their plate?

The way they played Sunday was bad on everyone. You can't be on your heels the entire game, and playing touch football. Unfortunately you can't fire the entire defense. Not in season. So you start up top.

There are enough players who won't be here next year. Browner better be among them (I know, broken record). Putting him out there in man coverage was another indictment on the staff.

GW did more with less talent because he was not a push over. I remember reading about him dragging Tez of the field by his face mask during either practice or trading camp, chewing his azz and embarrassing him because of a missed assignment and made him sit until the end of practice. That's what we need...maybe not as extreme, but someone who will kick these boys in the azz.No more push over coaches. Ever notice how our offense performs consistently good year after year. Sean ain't no f**kin push over. Not to say we don't have our bad games, but the numbers speak for themselves.

absolutely right about that. makes it hard to make the tough decisions when your pals with people who work for you.

But then again, one of the NFL's greatest defensive coaches was Bum
Phillips. His son Wade is also known as a player's coach. Guys will run
through walls for him.

I think the term a players coach has two sides to it...

1. He is a players coach that gives them ice cream, takes them to Disneyland, drinks with them and gives them a handy.

2. The other version of the players coach is to teach the players their job, how to be successful, how to win, how to be men in the game of football and off the field as well.

Guess which one we had...

Raphael is still on this team??

I haven't seen him make any sort of impact since 2013.

C'mon Dizz, he wasn't that bad. In fact he was one of the few safeties on our team that made plays.

Yeah he's no all-pro but he did consistently grade out above average.

If I was forced to choose between Vaccaro or Bush for 2016, I'm leaning toward Bush.

I wish they let Vaccaro and Bush go. By now Vaccaro should be helping set the D, instead he looks like a lost child in the mall somewhere looking very much confused and Bush makes 1 hit( illegal in my opionion) in a playoff game and he's the 2nd coming of Ronnie Lott. At least Harper did his job while he was in the box, these 2 don't.

Vaccaro may be a bit more athletic, but Harper covers better, tackles better, has a much higher football IQ, and is a coach on the field.

Really? Just play the damn game the best you can. Players & coaches are all at fault for the lousy performance of 2014 & 2015.

True, he was a scapegoat for so many that didn't know what the hell a traditional in the box safety was. We used to call them strong safeties.

Harper is still on my FB page and I still "Like" his posts. Harper is a freaking Man. He has his liabilities on the football field, but he's a quality human being and I'm a fan - just wish he didn't play for Carolina, but hey, the man's gotta eat...

So basically Bush is saying that the players themselves suck. Ok, I can buy that.

It's on us as players????? This dude has spent the better part the last two seasons on IR, how does he get the opportunity to say who is responsible for what??????

Yeah, real stand-up guy, acknowledges the defense's role/responsibility after a man loses his job,. Maybe be a little more proactive with the next guy, eh Rafael? I don't have any love for RR, but come on!
