Rob Ryan on NFL Gameday this morning
Rob Ryan said "Everything in New Orleans is blamed on me, including Katrina"

Re: Rob Ryan on NFL Gameday this morning
He went there? I'm liking the guy less now. He didn't need to go on nat TV and make a spectacle of himself. A bigger man (pun intended) needs to lay low for a while, at least for a few weeks. Showing up on NFL Network a few days after being fired, and saying this, makes him seem like a bit of a whore.
That Rich Eisen facepalm has to be a meme though. |

Re: Rob Ryan on NFL Gameday this morning
2 top ten defenses in 12 years, wouldn't expect anything less from a Ryan. Seems like the media likes to keep these fat bastar** relevant for some reason.

He is who we thought he was!
That Katrina comment speaks volumes of who Rob Ryan truly is. The fact that Katrina hit in 2005 and Ryan came to New Orleans in 2013 lends thoughts to how big his Ego really is. Would love to see this thread moved to the NFL he doesn't belong here anymore!! |
Re: Rob Ryan on NFL Gameday this morning
You can only blame everyone else for so long before its obvious that you're the problem.
He blamed the cowboys when they let him go. |
Re: Rob Ryan on NFL Gameday this morning
I knew Katrina was his fault. Wasn't she the pregnant stripper on Bourbon Street?

Re: Rob Ryan on NFL Gameday this morning
Maybe the strategy for hiring the DC isn't working. I believe these coaches under Payton have been secondary coaches. One thing all these hires have in common is Sean Payton. The first thing he did when he came here was drafting and bringing in CB's because that is the position he likes to attack as a play caller. He's always valued CB's and has spent a high draft pick on the position repeatedly since his arrival. Unfortunately, he can't evaluate defensive talent worth a damn.
Maybe we need a D-line or LB'ers coach to bring a different view of defenses. Someone with a new direction for this defense. Hopefully Jeff Ireland has the eye for defensive talent to give a new DC more ammunition. |

Bring in some like Clemson's Brent Venables and let him evaluate the defensive staff and hire and fire with his recommendations... Vitt and Johnson are just taking up air; bring in innovative, contemporary types... |

I'm ready for the Sean Payton era to end

Re: Rob Ryan on NFL Gameday this morning
On a positive note, he pretty much killed his chances to be an NFL analyst in the near future,. What a boob.

Re: Rob Ryan on NFL Gameday this morning
All of our recent DC"s seem to use the "Prof. Harold Hill" method of coaching. Give the defensed a playbook and let them "Visualize" making the plays!
"I say you have Trouble! Right here in Big Easy! Trouble starts with T and that rhymes with D and that stands for Defense!!!!" (Prof. Harold Hill is a character from the musical the Music Man. He played a con man that went from town to town convincing the powers that be the the youth of the town was getting corrupted. Their salvation was to form a school marching band. He got them to order uniforms and instruments through him but didn't know music. He gave them the instruments and had the "visualize" them playing them.) |
Re: Rob Ryan on NFL Gameday this morning
No telling what he is truly feeling under the façade. We loved that personality in New Orleans when he came, so can't fault him for the same thing now. He is consistent with that persona.

Re: Rob Ryan on NFL Gameday this morning
Look, we've just had some bad luck. We tried to fix the defense and the moves didn't work. We signed Byrd and he's been hurt and hasn't done a thing. He was great in Buffalo and looked like a good move at the time. Ryan was brought in to help create pressure and turnovers. But his schemes are too confusing and that didn't work. JR was looking like a good young player and then the money got to his head and he went stupid. We just need to develop the young players and maybe Allen can do it without confusing them. Let's see how the final 6 games go.
