Saints Signing OLB Phillip Hunt
1 Attachment(s)
Hunt, 29, originally signed with the Browns as an undrafted free agent out of Houston back in 2009. He wound up playing two seasons for the Eagles before they waived/injured him last August.
Hunt, unfortunately, suffered an ACL injury that required surgery back in 2013 and wound up missing the entire season. The Lions elected to sign him to a contract back in February before later releasing him in October. This season, Hunt has appeared in two games and recorded seven tackles and a sack. Saints Signing OLB Phillip Hunt | NFL Trade Rumors - NFL Rumors New Orleans Saints signing veteran pass-rusher Phillip Hunt, according to ESPN The New Orleans Saints are signing veteran edge rusher Phillip Hunt, according to a report from ESPN. Hunt, 29, played for the Philadelphia Eagles in 2011 and 2012 before injuries knocked him out of football. He made a comeback with the Detroit Lions this year before being waived last month. Hunt, who is 6-foot-1 and 258 pounds, has typically played a pass-rushing outside linebacker/defensive end role. The Saints are beset by injuries at linebacker. Rookie outside linebacker Hau'oli Kikaha attempted to play last week with a sprained ankle against the Washington Redskins but managed only nine snaps before being shut down. If the Saints view Hunt as more of a lineman, he could be used in place of Obum Gwacham in pass-rushing or third-down roles. Re: Saints Signing OLB Phillip Hunt
Do not get to to excited lets see how this goes
At one time he was really hyped as possibly having a big role in nickel and dime packages in Philli back in 2013. then he partially tore his ACL in 2013 So interesting risk rewards signing? or just a roster filler for now. At least it could be fun to watch the defense for this developing story line. Ok I am looking for anything and at everything now with this defense:p |
Re: Saints Signing OLB Phillip Hunt
It's not unusual to see the Saints sign someone late in the year. Last year I believe we signed Snead. So let's see how this plays out. I hope we aren't planning on our training staff to keep him healthy. They're really not good at keeping players on the field.

Is he at least a Beast?

Re: Saints Signing OLB Phillip Hunt
He won't be on the roster next year... Nothing to see here moving on ....

Re: Saints Signing OLB Phillip Hunt
Quinton Coples is out there now... Just throwing that out there. He was never a fit as a 3-4 edge rusher and would probably be a better option than Bobby Richardson.
