Technically, and I strongly stress technically, the New Orleans Saints remain in the NFC playoff picture at 4-6.

They face the Houston Texans on Sunday in NRG Stadium with an opportunity to remain within those playoff picture graphics splashed across media outlets by hopping up to 5-6.

You might not want to believe and you might not want to hear it. But that's exactly what Sean Payton, Drew Brees and Co. will cling to as long as it's mathematically possible. They all know the chances of playing a 17th game after Week 17 at Atlanta is slim at best. But what else are they supposed to say?

That's why you'll hear Brees say this rather than it's over:

"We recognize where we are at and we also know the road that's ahead of us. We can only win one game at a time. There is no greater challenge than the one that's right in front of us. I think the Texans are playing as well as any team especially defensively.

IMO injuries on both sides of the ball doomed this season.

We have a sluggers chance. There aren't many good teams in the NFC. I suspect a 9-7 team will make the playoffs. Why not us?

I still say the Carolina game could be our Super-Bowl and of course Atlanta. But for me I will be looking for positive signs from our Defense
under Coach Allen in the Texans game Sunday.

IMO, everything hinges on how the defense plays and takes the coaching from Dennis Allen. If our D can turn around even a little bit, we have a good chance.

Like Danno said, why not us? I would love for nothing more than DA to get in these guys heads and get them playing together. Try to eliminate the big play and play solid in the front 7. I have faith he can do it, our players are crying out for a leader, because what they had was a buddy. It's now or never for this team. I am ready to get our respect and mojo back.
