Give it to Mark Ingram for becoming irreplaceable for New Orleans Saints

1 Attachment(s)
The New Orleans Saints aren't allowed nice things in 2015. Their destiny this year is unavoidable.

Of course running back Mark Ingram landed on injured reserve Wednesday afternoon with a shoulder injury. It's the one personnel addition outside the draft the Saints unequivocally got right this calendar year.

Not only did Ingram survive the offseason veteran purge by the team, he received a nice four-year, $16 million contract to remain in New Orleans and avoid testing free agency. He's easily the best money the Saints spent this offseason.

This gets lost in the poor spending of the last couple of years on the contracts of Junior Galette, Jairus Byrd, Brandon Browner and C.J. Spiller.

This year officially just got worse with the loss of Ingram. What's next?

Ingram had 1200 all purpose yards, he will be missed. Time for CJ to grow a pair.

Ingram will be missed. Not like Payton likes running the ball anyway but It's time for Spiller to put his purse down and come play some football.

Also had 50 receptions on the season and is fifth among running backs in receiving yardage. Roll Tide was having a solid year up to this point.

I have been hard on Mark. But when healthy he has proven he can get better with each year. Issue is will he ever see a full 16 games given the work load. I think not. Time to solve this musical chairs at RB. Once again I spent the year looking at RB to help Mark out.

When he came in the league I had high hopes for him. Then his poor performance and poor attitude had me changing my mind. But I'm back on the band wagon again........too bad he's out for the year.

He's worked really hard for the team this season, I feel sorry for the guy, this is the last thing he/team needed after putting in good performances so far this year!

Get well soon!

Not a fair comment!

CJ can't play if he isn't in the game or play to his best if put in on bad plays!

Very pleased with the progress Mark has made. I was really rooting to see him break 1,000 rushing yards this season. The thing that impresses me most is how he's become such a leader off the field with charity work and having teammates over for family dinners. Ever since becoming a dad he's really embraced being a high-character guy.

Ingram hasn't worn the stain of the 4th and goal failure against Green Bay off yet to a lot of 'fans'

At least some other players get to show us what they have.

Is anybody on the practice squad? Ingram had a good run going. Looking forward to see him in action next season. Hope he comes in with a vengence!!

I wish him a quick recovery. He stepped up for this team and learned the entire NFL running back position and his hard work showed up huge for us this year. Get well, M. I.

And just think, I wanted to trade him last year...and the year before...and the year before...

Can we stop calling him Roll Tide? It is disgusting. I know it takes time to fumigate that stench coming out of college but he is a Saint now and a damn good one.

His poor performance and attitude could be attributed to Payton. If you'll remember it was Payton who said "I'm probably the reason Ingram won't be rookie of the year."

I don't expect Spiller to be on this team next season.

Wow just wow. What was the point of signing him. I mean you let a guy start who has been out of the league for awhile ahead of a "prized" freee agent signing. Wasted money once again. I agree there is no way Spiller will be here next year and if I was him I wouldn't want to be.

What everyone doesn't understand, is Spiller can't run the ball like Hightower can and stay healthy...

Buffalo tried that and he battled injuries; everyone wants to give him the ball but when screens are not working; what do you do?

Give Marcus Murphy a chance at running back, especially on third downs!!

I understand that. My problem is the Saints knew this before they signed him. They signed him as a specialist. My question is why aren't they using him for what they signed him for. It's a waste of money. Hell Murphy could do the job for Spiller if this was the vision they had for him and we could of used that money on defense. And if we are talking about health Hightower has a long injury history in this league. Bad free agent signings and bad drafting, not this rookie class though, has put us in this position.

That's easy; the offensive line has been pretty damn bad this year...

I'm debating my 3rd RB on my fantasy team.

Who will get me more points today? CJ Spiller, who may see some action, or Mark Ingram who isn't playing.

Ingram has improved especially in the passing game

But when out there I saw Khiry Robinson making the difference

Way to go Hightower

All I know is that Tim Hightower got the yards and the first downs when we really needed them. He ran hard.

I don't know if you're serious, but I do like the idea of giving MM some touches.
I like these scat back types in our offense of scheme

Awesome interview with Hightower. I like what he says about the team.

At least he see SP will always expect the offense to win a game by stuffing it down a teams throat and just pound the rock

I have to agree , its not only that game, he could have a highlight reel of failures with 4th and even 3rd and inches, I am going to take critique on this but he just runs to damn straight up to be that 3rd and inches back. give him a nice block and hole to run and he can hit a seam and go like a lot this year.he had a hell of a year to be honest. but!

Yep. I will be the first to admit that until last year I wanted him gone. Even after he turned it on going into the playoffs a couple years back. I think he will be one of the best in the league if he can get even a little bit of blocking.
