New Orleans Saints sign fullback Austin Johnson to roster

The New Orleans Saints signed fullback Austin Johnson to their active roster on Wednesday.

Johnson, 26, rejoins the roster after a month-long stint on the Saints' practice squad.

Before being waived on Nov. 3, Johnson played in six games in 2015. His four rushing attempts included one touchdown.

Johnson beat out veteran Erik Lorig to make the roster in August, but his role diminished after the Saints traded for tight end Michael Hoomanawanui.
