Redskins just signed him. With Ingram out, why in Zeus's butthole did we not sign PT, who has incredible knowledge of Brees' style and Payton's system? Is our front office really that poor or are they really that lazy or incompetent?

Do you really think the coaching staff didnt consider him? If they thought he could produce he would be here. Its not like they decided to get Hightower or someone even though Pierre was better. Hes not here because he isnt any better. Jesus how stupid do you think Payton is?

One thing PT brought that we forget. He was money in the backfield blocking on pass plays. Something we're sorely missing now.

The 49ers have waived Pierre Thomas to make room for Travaris Cadet. The shuffling of runners comes in the wake of the season-ending MCL injury Reggie Bush suffered two weeks ago.

What would be the point of bringing him back for 5 games unless it was a retirement thing? It took almost 3/4 of the season for someone to pick him up and then he is let go shortly after. The fact that it was the 49ers, should tell you all you need to know. Love the guy but he doesn't have it anymore.

He may not have much as a runner anymore, but he's smart and can catch checkdowns out of the backfield. Spiller isn't durable enough to carry the load. Plus as Skymike said we need a pass protection back with Ingram out; I doubt Spiller or Hightower are much good with protections.

a team has to know when its time to let a player go... so far they haven't proven to be wrong on this one.

I'm sure Payton and the staff said "well Pierre is out there and is a decent blocker and good out of the backfield and knows our system and all and is the best player available right now but let's not sign him and go for someone worse"

The fact he knows the system, is a decent blocker, and good at screens and the Saints didn't sign him in spite of all that should tell you something about Pierre as a player now. Our staff knows him better than any staff in the NFL. I'm sure our guys know something others don't.

He's old and at the very least could probably get Payton Vicodin and Payton would sign him for that alone if it were worth it

Also a good point. It would be good to be see Hooman on the wing or in the backfield to help out especially on Strief's side.

After 11 games here, it would take CJ Spiller roughly another 11 games in this season, for him to match or really surpass Pierre's production from his last year with the Saints, where he only played 11 games. The Saints are basically out of the playoff hunt, and the Redskins and Pierre are currently very much still in the mix. Make of that whatever you want.
