Delvin Breaux is giving a new meaning to 'shutdown cornerback'

The New Orleans Saints have struggled quite a bit to this point defensively in 2015. As a matter of fact, before Week 14, it had pretty much been a disaster on that side of the ball for New Orleans. The lone bright spot? Well, that would have to be Delvin Breaux.

#Saints CB Delvin Breaux has allowed just 1 receiving yard over the past three games.

That's simply an unreal statistic. Breaux has shut down quite a few big-named receivers, but to be a cornerback in the NFL and give up exactly one yard over three games? That just places you on another level. Breaux is probably the best cornerback that very few people are talking about to this point.

Can Breaux help fuel a strong finish to 2015 for the New Orleans defense? Don't bet against it.

People will know who he is next year.

I'll bet the house that unless he gets hurt he'll end up in the pro-bowl.

If he played here in Dallas for the Cowgirls, he'd be a household name by now.

Cmon Keenan, you need to stay healthy.

Through the Black fog of this season some players will shine like Gold.

this is what i like about seasons like this. like might be stretching it a bit. A silver lining on a turd of a defense that might just be turning things around and showing signs of hope for next year. Breaux aint alone. Rob leaving the out house might be the best thing to happen to this unit in the past 3 years.

Agreed.

This defense has pieces to build around as well as vets to lend support next season

I am going to say it now, Delvin Breaux is the best CB in the NFL at this time. Where this guy is now compared to where he was in week 1 is just phenomenal.

Having Browner on the other side helps a lot. lol

Breaux is very good corner. Pro Bowl year if he didn't slip vs Colts (twice) and had better coverage in Giants and Titans game (titans game, soft coverage in end zone). In offseason he should work on defending the deep ball.

Agreed. I think his off season workout will be serious. DB has a lot of drive and determination to get better at his craft.

Breaux's story is amazing from his vertebrae injury to his stint with the Voo Doo and the CFL. Nice to see a hometown kid getting it done.

Even the fact that you shorten his name and it becomes "DB"....!

Imagine if we had a healthy Lewis on the other side and half a pass rush. I don't think we are too far from being a good team again. I hope Payton stays.

we may be a different story if we had both on the field for 16.

Vet DeBreaux thoroughly and if he's not killing puppies or belt whippin' hoes, get that man a contract extension - now!!!

It'll give him more locker room credibility when he tells some of these other @$$hats on defense to STFU and start ballin' on defense...

IF Westbank comes back healthy, we can work on developing the depth (i.e. Kyle Wilson, P.J. Williams, Brian Dixon) behind them and focus on a nose tackle and another linebacker in the draft...

Once he realized his limitations in the NFL he really grasped the concept of a shut down corner and has played very well.
