Saints players say 'tanking' for better draft position is never an option
1 Attachment(s)
The New Orleans Saints have been grinding through the 2015 season more than four months now. Fatigue has no doubt set in, as it often does for players when the season winds now.
Barring an unlikely series of events, the Saints (5-8) won't have a playoff berth to recharge their spirits. However, they proved their minds were still on football when they snapped a four-game losing streak last week against the Buccaneers. Worn down as they may be, don't count on them throwing in the towel. "Our job is to win," said Saints quarterback Drew Brees. When a team is unlikely to make the playoffs, it is often suggested it would be more beneficial to lose. The theory says wins don't count for much if the playoffs aren't possible, but a loss could move a team higher in the draft order and ensure long-term success. http://image.nola.com/home/nola-medi...ca126a927c.jpg read more |

have they not pay attention to film study days, they can just go out there and play their hearts out because even that looks like they are tanking

I'm probably as true of a Saints fan as there is. However, we drafted well early last year and I think we will be picking early again. Tank? Hell no! Play backups? Hell yes!

We drafted close mid round and missed out on a impact player.

We selected Peat when Marcus Peters was available
He's showing Kansas City just how good he is, defensive rookie of the year easily in the bag. |

high in sight is 20/20 but tackles who play guard can be found in rounds 3-7 (see Nicks,C). At least they tried to fill a need with both first round picks but it would of been nice to see Peters or even a WR play on this team this year

And players will do what they can to perform to their best. Albeit there are some players who have lesser capabilities to contribute to a team's success. Quote:
So I agtee, players are not 'tanking' for better draft position |

Re: Saints players say 'tanking' for better draft position is never an option
How much you wanna bet we didn't draft Peters because someone said we signed Browner?!?
Seems laughable now, but it'll be scary when it comes to fruition... |

Saints players say 'tanking' for better draft position is never an option
Says the guys who could be replaced with those better players... |
Re: Saints players say 'tanking' for better draft position is never an option
So, it's acceptable for WINNERS to tank, but not for LOSERS to tank.
Winning our next two games is not in our best interest. |
