ATLANTA -- The New Orleans Saints' 20-17 win Sunday placed them third in the NFC South and helped finalize their 2016 home and away opponents. The dates of each game will be determined in April when the full regular-season schedule is released.

Home opponents (*playoff team): Carolina Panthers*, Atlanta Falcons, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Seattle Seahawks*, St. Louis Rams, Detroit Lions, Denver Broncos*, Oakland Raiders

Away opponents (*playoff team): Carolina Panthers*, Atlanta Falcons, Tampa Bay Buccaneers, Arizona Cardinals*, San Francisco 49ers, New York Giants, Kansas City Chiefs*, San Diego Chargers

My take: The first thing that stands out is how many frequent-flyer miles the Saints will be racking up since they face both the NFC West and the AFC West in 2016. But at least they get to avoid the longest -- and most daunting -- trip to Seattle. Overall, the schedule doesn't look too brutal. They get two of their toughest opponents at home (Seattle and Denver). And depending on how the dates fall, the Saints might not have to face many cold-weather games.

I'm kinda excited about next year already. Mainly for personal reasons, one of my former youth players here in Sweden are currently playing HS football in San Diego and will be a senior next year. I really hope the game against them will be during the HS season so I can get to watch both him and the Saints play.
