Re: Payton

Huge mistake to let him go. Obviously we shouldnt keep the man if he doesnt want to be here but we should hold out to take whatever team he goes to the woodshed.
Nobody else out there is worth a crap so we would get a DC or retread losing NFL hc.
We will be a bottom dwellers for years. Coaches like Payton dont come around often.

Re: Payton

Can we trade for Bill Belichik?

He can draft LSU players that SP won't draft. Arizona Cardinals seem to be doing well with those.

Re: Payton

It's time for him to go. Jim Mora, Jr. should be available. And Bobby Hebert has a son that can switch to QB if necessary if we trade Payton and Brees in a package deal for a few 7th rounders.

While we're at it,we can trade those 7th rounders to Washington for Galette...

Good NFL coaches are hard to find. There are only a handful that are in the league I think are elite and Sean is one of them. Chances are if he leaves we don't get one and we are in for a long haul of futility.

I think the vast majority of us here agree with this. Is there another Payton out there waiting for his chance, I am sure there is. But whats the odds we find him? Especially with Loomis torn between running 2 franchises, I don't like the odds. This thread:http://blackandgold.com/saints/76147...ton-wants.html is a good take on the situation and makes a ton of sense.

Re: Payton

The forum has spoken!

And so has coach - hooray!

All that said - I still want to see some shakeup - in coaching and talent - on the defense

Give me someone who can evaluate defensive talent. Because our scouts sure don't.

Re: Payton

I think Itelands got that
In one year he got good value in a pair of CBs. Anthony who has shown some good traits considering in his first year he was asked to be the MLB and play under two DCs. And Kikaha who prior to injury was looking really disruptive and always round the ball

I agree with you. This was probably our best draft since 2006.

I think we still need to replace whoever is our pro scout.

Which one are you referring to? Parenton or Ryan Powell?

I'm referring to the one who suggested Browner, Spiller and the long list of used goods we've been signing to lucrative contracts. I'm not sure who is responsible but someone isn't getting the job done and needs to go. Besides Breaux I'm not happy with their results. But literally every team wanted him to try out.:argue:

Gotcha ;). I could understand if you were speaking of Powell. He has been in NO for over a decade however Parenton is on year TWO as a Pro Scout here.

Re: Payton

We need a poll on how long this poll will continue.......or will be too much of a "Dead Money" cap hit with poor gap control that ends up a wasted draft choice without a true #1 receiver?
