So what exactly are the Chiefs getting in Randolph?
"Shakiel Randolph -- 6-3 1/2, 213 -- ran the 40-yard dash in 4.63 and 4.59 seconds (it should be noted that the surface was a soft FieldTurf surface and not particularly fast) at SMU's pro day," wrote NFL.com's Gil Brandt. "He had a 42-inch vertical jump and 10-foot-10 broad jump. He did the 20-yard short shuttle in 4.45 seconds and the three-cone drill in 7.13 seconds.
"He also did 16 reps of 225 pounds on the bench press. Randolph worked out at linebacker, cornerback and safety at the pro day, but his best position is probably safety. Randolph was really good catching the ball in his positional drills."

Randolph has the potential to make the Chiefs roster. He's a versatile athlete who has yet to reach his ceiling. But Randolph was plagued by injuries at SMU, so staying healthy will be key.
Randolph notched 31 tackles last season. His best year statistically came as a sophomore when he recorded 37 tackles
