Saints interested in adding Dan Campbell to coaching staff
 

Dan Campbell, former interim head coach of the Miami Dolphins, is getting interest from the New Orleans Saints as a potential addition to Sean Payton’s coaching staff.

According to Nick Underhill of the New Orleans Advocate, the Saints have spoken with Campbell about joining the staff, though the position he would fill remains unclear.

Campbell was let go by the Dolphins after taking over midseason following the firing of Joe Philbin in October. The Dolphins went 5-7 over the final 12 games with Campbell at the helm before the team looked to Adam Gase to serve as the permanent replacement moving forward.

Campbell has a lengthy history with Payton. Campbell played tight end for the New York Giants from 1999-2002 when Payton was the quarterbacks coach and offensive coordinator. Campbell followed Payton to the Dallas Cowboys for 2003-05 where Payton had become the assistant head coach under Bill Parcells. Campbell once again joined Payton in New Orleans for his final season in 2009, but was placed on injured reserve before the season began.

The logical spot for Campbell would be coaching tight ends, which is the position he coached with the Dolphins before getting the interim head coach job midway through last season. However, the Saints already have a tight ends coach in Dan Roushar.

goodie the more coaches with head coach experience the better IMO. At least SP will not need to say things twice as much

That would be the most likely scenario to happen for the Saints to switch the assistant HC. I highly doubt SP would fire or demote Vitt since they seem to have a very tight relationship.

Could work out best for everyone.
I know Vitt gets alot of hate,i said things myself but unlike alot of players etc the man been loyal to the team and his HC. A move might be good for him and us. Players tire of the same coaches and noise,give Payton a new attack dog for the team,a new voice to get at underperforming players. Also can never have too many hood positional coaches

Campbell did a helluva job in Miami with all that owner/front office dishevel...now about that Saints defensive line...
