More to come I'm sure... Strief, Colston, Brees etc...

Good. Go get healthy, treatment and rest this off season.

Hope this doesn't mean we see him as full time starter. Trevathan/marshall or LB in the draft is a must.

Good move! He's way too good when he's healthy to just cut him. I'd love to see him rest up and get healthy for another shot next season.

Gonna be interesting to see the new numbers. He is good when healthy.

When Ellerbe played and was healthy he was great.

4-1 when Ellerbe started and finished the game.

Brees84 has a legitimate point .. Ellerbe has played in only 7 of the last 32 games . At best he would be solid depth at the LB position.

I'm sure the front office will target a mid tier LB and/or the upcoming draft.

need protection with that position due to his health for sure, but man he is frigan awesome when healthy

Figured this would happen but I wonder what the hit is? I hope it's under 3 million. He needs to prove he can stay healthy before spending to much.

good move but I don't think this changes their plans for improving linebacker this offseason or in the draft

Saints restructure LB Dannell Ellerbe's contract
by Kristian Garic posted Feb 10 2016 12:01PM

The Saints continue moving money around ahead of the start of the league year on March 9th. The Saints restructured LB Dannell Ellerbe's contract, dropping his base salary to $1.8 million dollars this season, according to a league source.

Ellerbe was previously scheduled to count $5.9 million against the salary cap if he remained on the roster after today (The third day of the waiver period). The Saints dropped the base salary, and freed up some much needed cash.

That's one hell of a deal! I really like him at that price.

I liked him when he was on the field smart veteran guy he is injury prone but so was ivory n he had a pro bowl year this year, maybe we can see that out of him next season... Solid backup either way it goes...

I don't believe that we will go after a mid rounder to back him up. We will target a high draft pick to be the starter and he will be the veteran savvy backup. Maybe his body will hold up better that way.

If Ireland can land another smart athletic LB'er in the draft who can stay on the field we will have done an about face in the secondary.

Well, I hope they draft one and sign one in free agency. That would give us 4 WLB. And frankly I hope all 4 make the roster.

Worth every penny!! I do see getting 2 more lb.'ers now that Hawthorn and Humber are gone.

There will be three if not four available at pick 12 in the draft. Mack, Lee, Smith and Spence
