Kenny Wilkerson (speculation)
Kenny Wilkerson was on Fourth Down on 4 tonight talking Saints. He said:
-- the Saints feel their biggest needs are OT, WLB and S, in that order. -- Victor Riley probably will not be back. However, KW said he saw Riley at a VooDoo game recently, and it appeared to KW that Riley had lost some weight. KW then speculated that the weight loss could be a sign that Riley is trying to get his act together and that Riley could possibly get the Saints to keep him if he promises to clean up his act (yeah, right!). -- Wayne Gandy's play wasn't great last year either. He has a huge amount of $$$ due him next year, must improve his game if he's to remain a Saint. -- it's difficult to say if Jon Stinchcomb will pan out, as he has played so little since the Saints drafted him. However, he acts like a professional every day -- which can't be said about some other Saints players -- and must be allowed to play to see if he can, in fact, become our LT of the future. -- Tebucky Jones has worn out his welcome and won't be back. The Saints love his physical play, but, as KW put it, the team "wants to get smarter at the position." -- he wouldn't be surprised if the Saints draft a QB as early as the third round to push AB. He doesn't think we'll snag a QB in FA. -- talk of Haslett's extension was premature. KW said the two sides have talked, but the team does not want to give Haslett the raise he requested (as KW put it, there was "a problem with the numbers"). If Haslett is extended, the extension will not include a raise. |

Kenny Wilkerson (speculation)
I think that now would be a good draft to try to pick up some wideouts-as their will be many available and we could really upgrade that position..say trade horn, drop pathon and let it fly? or keep horn either way..
I think that lineback and safety are our two biggest needs..and I think that we could easily get a good linebacker and safety early then pad our team later with linebackers from smaller schools-ala the guy from troy and this guy McCUne--esp. I would like to see them get matt jones as a wideout-0he\'s big and fast!!! for safety-thomas davis, brimmer, pool are all good for qb-walter, frye and the QB from harvard all look interesting. |
