MARIO WILLIAMS: RELEASE

What an interesting development if the Saints ends up signing him.

2006 Number 1 Draft Pick: TEXANS - MARIO WILLIAMS
2006 Number 2 Draft Pick: Saints - Reggie Bush

Re: MARIO WILLIAMS: RELEASE

I'm sure he is not worth the price tag he will carry. Would much rather go into the season with who we have and a couple of draft choices.

Re: MARIO WILLIAMS: RELEASE

If we were to sign Mario Williams that makes me think about something... Has there ever been a #1 and #2 picks from a draft that ended up spending time with the same team? Indy came close with the 1st and 3rd (Luck and Richardson.) Just a random trivia question.

I doubt the Saints will be able to afford him.

I don't think he is going to command big money after some disappointments.

And this is why I kick the tires on him.

Mario's worst year he had 5 sacks (that would have had him ranked 3rd in NO over the last 3 seasons). He was 1st team All Pro in 2014. I don't think we are expecting the dominate MW from 4 years ago but he could be a great gap pass rusher for us.

He is at least worth a look.

This reminds me of Demarcus Ware situation. "Demarcus Ware to denver" worked out pretty good.

Re: MARIO WILLIAMS: RELEASE

I'd rather spend the money on a DT. Kikaha may not be Mario Williams, but he did pretty good with the poor DT play we have. Get some good push with the interior and I think Jordan/Kikaha will be a good tandem.

Re: MARIO WILLIAMS: RELEASE

With the salary cap being extended a large amount I am not sure we can even complete in the market. Last thing we want is another big signing bonus leading to cap jail. With that said, like others stated if the price is right then I like it.

Solution: Sign interior NT Damon Harrison; sign DE Malick Jackson

Result: Instantly have a NFL Top 5 Defensive Line

Williams seems to just have a bad cloud about him...

I'd rather we not spend valuable money on him.

Re: MARIO WILLIAMS: RELEASE

Hopefully Breaux, PJ, Kennan L & Sunseri are 100% by camp. If we can some how manage to stay healthy in 2016, I think we are in decent shape on D.

I like that a lot! Then we can go offense heavy in the draft. Still need a OG that can start from day one. I don't want a rookie starting at guard.

Re: MARIO WILLIAMS: RELEASE

Nobody can afford him. With the high salary demands from key players, either the NFL is going to have to change to a 3 on 3 flag football model or raise the salary cap to 1 billion dollars!
