Source: Saints would like to bring back kicker Kai Forbath
 

The New Orleans Saints have had discussions with Kai Forbath and would like to bring the kicker back, a source told The Advocate.

Forbath, the veteran kicker who was signed midseason after the Saints cut Zach Hocker, made 9-of-13 field goals in 10 games with New Orleans.

Forbath buried two game-winning kicks for the Saints, blasting a 50-yard kick through the uprights to beat the Giants and a 30-yarder to beat Atlanta in the season finale.

But Forbath’s potential game-winner against Tennessee was blocked, one of two Forbath field goals that were blocked in New Orleans last season.

I wish that Payton had a clue how to evaluate kickers. As much as they are useless in every way outside of kicking, the fact is that having a consistent kicker is very important. We haven't had a dependable one since Carney's first stint here. Even he was bad when he came back.

I still don't understand the decision to cut Dustin Hopkins and keep Zach Hocker going into last season. Hopkins was money all training camp and Hocker was regularly missing a kick or two. Please let us find someone reliable once and for all.

We don't need a kicker competition, we need a kicker who we can assure the job before TC starts. players play well when they know their status months before the season. Waiting for TC is what causes so many problems.
