We only have 6 Million in cap space. I don't know if we will do much this year in FA.

As I watch free agents continue to go off the board, it seems like any move we'd make at this point would almost feel like an obligation just to say we signed SOMEONE. There's not much out there that could significantly impact this team, in my opinion.

What I'm getting at is I don't want to see the Saints sign some second or third tier guy to a 4 year, 35-40 million dollar deal, just because he's the best option left. Just save it for next year if you can't get impact players. Obviously there will be a few minor deals here and there, as always, but I'm not expecting much else.

Exactly!

The Giants are signing guys left, right and centre, if we are not going to sign anyone then let's have a good draft.

But don't sign any player to a big deal when he isn't going to be an all pro.

Yeah this is getting old. Teams doing nothing when you're 7-9 are going to continue to be 7-9. They need to correct this cap problem and be aggressive like they were when they first took over...

A lot of the media talked up this year's FA pool like it was gonna be legendary. In truth, many of the big names never hit, and were never going to hit the market. So what was left ended up being a few up and comers with potential (Jackson, Trevathan, etc) a handful of aging vets who might still have it (M. Williams, Forte) and then a whhhhooooooooolllllle lotta mediocrity.. We're all of about 2 hours into the official opening of free agency and about all I see left is mediocrity. That being considered, I'm hoping we sit back and just try to add a little depth here and there on the cheap. Go ahead and give Brees an extension, but I would like to see them just eat most of that 30 mil this year. As others have already said there's no point in spending big money when there's no one worth spending it on. Let's take the hit now and maybe we finally get out of this year to year cap limbo we've been stuck in for so long.

Some of you are acting like it's your first offseason...

Where has it been proven that signing a bunch of high-priced free agents means you win the Superbowl?

Patriots don't do it. Green Bay doesn't do it.

We don't have to either.

I agree. I think we should change our ways and build through the draft. I'm not opposed to a few non risky FA's but big splashes have burned us in recent years.

And it bit GB in the ass last year too when Nelson went down.

I, for one, never said we had to sign a bunch of free agents to win the Super Bowl. I simply don't want them to spend a bunch of money on middle of the road players. Because while free agency isn't everything, it is still a big part of it. And when you keep making bad deals, you not only can't compete in the free agent market, you also will have a hard time holding on to your draft picks down the road.

I don't understand why people think you can just draft and not care about free agency. Every player becomes a free agent at some point. The main thing here is this team needs to decide what they are doing with Drew. If they want to keep him around past next season, then you have a small window to put a team together while he's still here. If they want to take a long term approach, then they shouldn't bother extending him. let him play out his last year and get his contract off the books so that we can start locking up the next wave of core players.

Let him divorce his wife and marry someone not on social media.......then sure. Why not?

His wife is truly a nut case & I can understand why some GM's don't want anything to do with him. Too bad because Grimes can still play.

But they do have some coaches on the defensive side of things.
