Take emotion out of it, look at the past mistakes that have caused significant cap issues (which we are currently "trying" to get out of) and tell me how this doesn't suggest overpaying for a mid tier player and continuing the current cap situation in future years?

I hear the argument about it being backloaded and could end it sooner, etc. The issue there is (dependent on) the signing bonus number that could lead to substantial dead money counting against a future cap. It is business 101, Mickey Loomis wouldn't have to jump cap hoops every off season with good signings and contracts.

In the end, I hope for nothing more than for Fleener to be the best saints FA signing since Drew Brees and eat crow.
