Free agency... You'll be disappointed if?

For me... if we don't get some front 7 help before the draft with at least a few solid 2nd tier guys, I'll be very disappointed.

DE, DT and LB.

I'm confident we sign a few, but if we don't... x(

I thought Sean said a few months ago that "pass rush" would be the point of emphasis in FA this off season?

There must be someone they really like in the upcoming draft.

Prolly too many $ wanted by those wanting them even though they are not worth it.... event hough they think they are worth it!

Re: Free agency... You'll be disappointed if?

Really wanted to see an upgrade with youth at Left Defensive End and...

wanted to see a standout like Damon Harrison at Nose Tackle...

So on the first two, I'm pretty bummed we're waiting for the draft - no matter how deep it is...

Also, wanted to see us sign an experienced guard with youth...

Guess, I'm more disappointed with what has transpired and our inability to compete for free agents because we're having to atone for very poor contract, salary cap mgmt...

They don't sign Johnny Football to a 10 year $200,000,000 contract!!

Re: Free agency... You'll be disappointed if?

I'm not disappointed;

I understood that we were strapped against the cap again this year and figured we wouldn't do much in free agency.

I was pleasantly surprised with the Fleener signing. From what I understand this is a not so good offensive talent draft, so go for a TE in free agency and build the defense through the draft.

We must do something to fix the most important part of the team, o line and d line. These must be addressed at least somewhat in free agency, we will not be able to rely solely on the draft.

We don't go after a FA linebacker who can cover.

If we could structure a contract like we structured Fleener's,

..then we definitely could and should have done it for a nose tackle like Harrison...

To make the defensive line a top seven unit, you have to invest a little...

Id like to see a good DT. i'd even rather that than a guard at this point. Those are my two main areas of worry.

Guard, DT and LB. I am really surprised we didn't sign FA guard in the first wave of free agency. There were some solid pickups by other teams. Fleener signing means nothing if Drew doesn't have time to throw the football.

If we over spend and don't land an above average DT, CB or DE

I'll be disappointed if recent history repeats itself.

Re: Free agency... You'll be disappointed if?

I'm glossing over the free agents.

Zach Brown, 4-3 OLB
Justin Durant, 4-3 OLB
Bacarri Rambo, S
Dwight Freeney, 4-3 DE
Chris Long, 4-3 DE
Nick Fairley, DT
Terrance Knighton, DT
Evan Mathis, G

A lot of these guys would be good stop gaps to hold us over until we can find younger players. I think we need both of those LB'S though. That's a significant upgrade in speed at LB. Kikiha definitely needs to move to DE if we're running the 4-3.

Re: Free agency... You'll be disappointed if?

If we let talent go to our division rivals while we get none I will be extremely disappointed. This feels an awful lot like putting all your eggs in one basket.......which is common for a Sean Payton gambler attitude. I've seen him do it for years.

Last year Ireland held Payton in check. I don't know if he can do it again.

I've watched him become enamored with players and gush all over them who then under perform when called upon. I reference Lelito and Hill as my two most recent players who let the team and fans down.

I'm beginning to get that uneasy feeling again.

I'm with you on the defensive front 7, which needs an upgrade to generate more consistent defensive pressure.

However, I'd like to hear some more detail as to exactly how the o-line is broken. This is my projected starting lineup for 2016:

Armstrong
Kelemete
Unger
Lelito
Peat

Strief as the backup tackle.

Now I will admit that Lelito isn't my favorite guy. Also I don't really see any depth behind this group. But I fail to see exactly how the above group is broken.

I think we need to upgrade at least one of those guard spots. Let Kelemete and Lelito fight it out for the other spot if necessary.

OK. There's not a lot of guards on FA lists such as:

https://www.profootballfocus.com/blo...gents-of-2016/

Evan Mathis for example would be the top guard left. The guy will be 34 and in his 12 season next year. So how exactly for example would that be an upgrade when the Saints let Evans, who is somewhat in the same situation, go?

lets see what the entire off season additions are first. so far? Over paying for targeted FA seems to be the theme song over the past few years.

If they don't upgrade the defensive side of the ball, right now the only signings were to bring back players that were here last year. I know they were strapped against the cap but Im not buying it
