No comp picks
No one brought this up. But saints got no comp picks again. Good thing is neither did the rest of the division.

Re: No comp picks
I think it wasn't brought up because it's completely expected. The title to your post could have just as well been "no surprise" and I think we'd all know what it was about already. The Browns are the only team to have been given less comp picks than us, sad..

Re: No comp picks
Saints haven't mastered the Patriots way yet . Until then, expect no comp picks!

Re: No comp picks
whats new?

Re: No comp picks
comp picks are not arbitrary- there is a formula
our problem is twofold: we cut our high-priced guys, which negates compensation, and we always sign high end players, Byrd, Browner, etc, that cancel out our actual lost players (which we rarely have) |

Really, we're talking about comp picks, really, it's just comp picks, we're just talking about comp picks!

and no, sports fans, we don't get anything if Evans, Hawthorne, Browner, or Colston sign elsewhere |
Re: No comp picks
Yeah, what's new. Iirc they haven't had one since they draft Colston

Re: No comp picks
First time I can recall Baltimore wasn't awarded the most quantity and value in compensatory picks...
Personally, I wish they'd do away with them entirely and just go to a ten round draft... |

Edit: Loomis has a plan and it's effective. But it's more costly than the NE plan. I still believe Loomis is the man. He just makes the numbers work while Sean Payton calls the shots. |

Baltimore has rec'd more compensatory picks than any other team - and it's not even close... Ozzie Newsome was one of the first NFL executives to go through the league internship and likely received instruction on how to best achieve those picks... Personally, I believe it's part Newsome and part NFL League Office favoritism toward Baltimore - and lately, after the Ray Rice elevator beat-down cover-up, it's certainly seems more of the later... And no one really calls the league on this apparent bullshinski... Don't believe teams should be rewarded or compensated for letting their veterans go... As I said earlier, the draft has become such a big event unto itself, make the draft ten (10 ) rounds and eliminate compensatory picks... ...and let the best talent personnel evaluators win... |
Re: No comp picks
Teams can start trading compensatory draft picks in 2017. Talk about stacking the deck for select clubs.
With Roger as the boss this turn into a mechanism to keep clubs in line. |
Re: No comp picks
Again, it's not arbitrary or subjective
Under the rules for compensatory draft selections, a team losing more or better compensatory free agents than it acquires in the previous year is eligible to receive compensatory draft picks. Comp picks are a facet of the parity system. If a team loses 3 FA's without signing any, they get 3 picks in compensation. |
