Swann Charged with reckless operation

New Orleans Saints CB Damian Swann charged with reckless driving

Just like ESPN to make a mountain out of a mole hill. Traffic charges but makes the Saints front page.

Well, guess being a Saint is far worse than the good of being a former Georgia Bulldog...

He should cite CTE in his defense...;)

Ok, circle the wagons, :) ... he was doing 100mph in a 65mph zone, not like he was screaming through residential, was initially clocked at 81mph and only accelerated to 100mph in order to pass, using the proper passing lane, I assume, :).

Cooperated with the po-po, willingly exited the vehicle & informing the officers he had, not one, but two handguns, both for which he had the proper permits.

No harm, no foul, fine him, send him on his way ... I remember getting a few speeding tickets heading back & forth to Florida on occasion, on I-75 ... dem Georgia speed traps are legendary. Why do they make those speedometers go up to 100mph anyway? :)

126 on my motorcycle once.

Trooper told me if he ever caught me out there again he'd (a) revoke my 'pilot's license' and (b) whip my ass before he put me in his patrol car. LOL

Maybe I could have sued?

Oh so what. The kid is what 22? Yea it was dumb, knuckleheaded and a douche bag thing to do but young people do stupid **** all the time. I guarantee you most anyone on here's kid had done something equally as stupid even if you don't know about it. It's how he handles it going forward that counts.
I go 90 with 2 handguns in the car just about every day. If only to pass someone.

Maybe he was on I-95, IDK ... I was on I-75 the few times I got tapped ... once was near 100mph speeds & I just remember them making me follow them something like 50 miles off the freeway to pay a fine or have to come back a month or two later to see the judge ... real "Smokey & the Bandit/Dukes of Hazzard" stuff,.

 ... I never thought about carrying two handguns at the same time ... gonna' have to go out & get another holster & give Damien some props for birddogging that idea for me,.

I'm kinda' glad this all happened though ... yeah, he was speeding, but he was doing everything else right, :). I get tired of the "pulled over for routine traffic stop and found drugs/weapons/illegal immigrants/minors/domestic abuse/teabagging/partying" type NFL headlines.

I'm kinda' proud of this guy, :).

This is such a non story it's laughable. When I was 22 I spent my days on hwy90 and I-10 above the 100 mph threshold. I didn't get caught though. Swann is a stand up guy for declaring his handguns and cooperating. I don't know how I would have reacted being stopped at that age. I was much more dumber.

I have a food truck so I carry a small LC9 in the car for concealment and a .45 1911 to open carry when I'm loading/unloading late at night. People see food service industry people and automatically assume they have lots of cash. Keep them both in car when I drive back and forth to commecary

SF - just curious, what type of bike were you riding at that time?

I recently purchased the 2015 Ninja H2. That bike pulls like no other. Grab a handful of throttle and hang on  !

Oh man that was a long time ago. It was a Kawasaki Eliminator. Didn't sell well. It wanted to be a cruiser - guess it kinda was, but it had a Ninja 650 in it. I love the new Ninjas. I lost my bike in my divorce. If I'm still young enough in a few years I will have one.
