Bears Sign Josh Hill to Offer Sheet

Woohoo let him go... It'll free up $1.67 million in cap space!

Maybe not... Laurinaitis contract isn't on the books yet and we just signed Craig Robertson too.

We probably just bumped TE us several notches on the need list.

I expect we'll draft a TE in the 1st 3 rounds now.

Crap Hill was tendered at the original-round (undrafted) level, so no compensation. Oh well got 5 days.

Yeah, but would you tender him for another 500,000 on the off-chance of getting a 7th round pick?

We can now sign a 3rd string TE for a million of less
Good Luck to him

future bears' headline-
New TE Hill is having a hard time adjusting. Notes that passes are easier to catch when they are thrown on the numbers...

Fleener and Hoomanawhachamacallic made Josh expendable. No chance the Saints match the offer.

3 years @ 7.5 million total = way too much!

Man I really like Hill but that be a little hisgh for the Saints to match. I really thought he would explode last year but then Watson stole the thunder.

I thought Hill was the reason why we were confident in trading away JG - he was supposed to step right in and perform w virtually no drop off. My, how things change in a year.

I don't remember anyone saying that.
I remember most saying the offense would continue to shine because of how Drew spreads the ball around.

I'm not sure where you got that idea. A few people around here that far over-valued Hill may have mentioned something of the sort, but most of us felt Ben Watson would step into the primary TE role. Then again, I don't remember any of us promoting Watson ever saying that there would not be a drop off at the position. Personally, I was never overly impressed with Hill.

He reminds me of Arrington. Tons of potential and everyone keeps waiting for the light to go on but it doesn't. Ben Watson took his job...think about that. he couldn't put it together and looked much worse once Graham left. Hopefully he does will in Chicago. We have a solid blocking TE and a decent recieving TE so it's not a need.

Sean said that about Hill.

And yet he hardly used Hill at all once the season started. Was he simply trying to inflate his perceived value?

He spoke of him like the second coming after Graham left. He's a great athlete, but it seemed to be more of Sean trying to instill confidence in Josh via public comments. Something was just off with his play.

I said ANOTHER 500,000, to bring the tender to to $2.1.
I'm fine with Hooma at 1.3 and a rookie or FA at 1,000,000 flat
