Jarran Reed to visit New Orleans Saints, WWL reports
by Andrew Schuster 4h ago Follow @TheSaintsDish The New Orleans Saints are scheduled to host Alabama defensive tackle Jarran Reed in April for a pre-draft visit, according to a report from WWL. Yet to address the positon in free agency, defensive tackle is arguably the biggest obligation this offseason for the New Orleans Saints at the moment after reaching deals with three linebackers and a tight end. However, they are reportedly still in the mix for Nick Fairley. While Alabama’s A’Shawn Robinson has been a popular mock draft pick for the New Orleans Saints, Reed would likely be the better fit. He has also landed with the Saints in several mocks. Again, they still have holes in their roster, including the defensive line. Reed could help fix that. He brings superb size and power to the defensive front, eating up blockers and dominating at the point of attack. In 14 games as a senior in 2015, including the postseason, Reed was responsible for 57 total tackles, 4.5 tackles for loss, two passes defended, and a sack, helping lead the top defense in all of college football as an anchor for the Crimson Tide front. He’s also an impressive specimen on film. The New Orleans Saints, unfortunately, have been plagued with mediocrity at the defensive tackle position for too long. Reed is the type of talent to end that misery. If other players are off the board at No. 12, he’s certainly somebody to consider, if the Black and Gold decide to roll with a defensive lineman in the first round. Saints will take the BPA on DEFENSE at #12.
Reed, A Robinson, Dodd, Lawson, Billings, Rankins, Spence or Butler. SP keeps saying that by 3 Mississippi, we need to be at the QB. Take your pick but I'm certain it will be a defensive player. |
Re: Jarran Reed to visit New Orleans Saints, WWL reports
I'm sure we will go Dline with the #1. End or a center piece, as long as we can disrupt the play.

Re: Jarran Reed to visit New Orleans Saints, WWL reports
I feel as we have to go DE or DT,CB,DE or DT for our first three picks maybe a NT for replacing one of the D-linemen. It doesn't necessarily have to be in this order. It's time to shore up this defense. If our coaches dont go this way I will be really disappointed.

Yes... more DL help!
If we had Denver's D coupled with a SP and Brees led O.... we may be able to get a few Tiffanys. http://blog.verbalapplications.com/P...rdi-Trophy.jpg |

Smoke screen? Maybe, maybe not.

Huge upgrade over John Jenkins.

SMOKE SCREEN!!!
All that this tells me is that we are drafting WR. |

This is Sean Payton's team and he's got Drew Brees for a quarterback... ...Offense is how this team rolls and it rolls with multiple weapons... The defense has the personnel now to slow a team to twenty points... But we win running, passing up and down the field and scoring touchdowns... We've got at least six selections and they'll be spread out on both sides of da ball... I just hope it's Treadwell with the early pick if selecting a WR, if not; hope we trade back and not reach... |
Re: Jarran Reed to visit New Orleans Saints, WWL reports
Treadwell at 12 is a reach

We are still stuck with Richardson as our base DE. Sure, Hau can come in on passing downs but he isn't holding the edge in the base. Richardson was likely the worst starting DE in the league last year, he'd be a practice squad player on most teams. |

I'd love the pick, and not because I'm a Bama homer.
After the way Ingram and Harper were treated I'd rather see Bama players go elsewhere and succeed. Reed or Robinson would be fine with me. Not too keen on Reggie Ragland in the B&G tho unless we go base 3-4. He is the reincarnation of Vaughan Johnson, but with more speed. |
Re: Jarran Reed to visit New Orleans Saints, WWL reports
Reed has my vote and has it by week 6 of the 2015 bama season. Robinson does not do much for me

If the Saints FO don't select a DE/OLB in the first rd you will not get a starting one in the 2nd. Were picking @ 12 & 47, meaning it's highly likely a defensive player is getting picked ahead and 36 picks after us. If we select a WR (Treadwell) in the first, Brees jobs will appear a little easier & it's a sexy pick however it still won't help that tired a$% defense and we are looking at 7-9, 8-8 ... again. J Reed is a day one starter, high football IQ, & immediate impact player at the position. I'd be elated if we select him at 12. |
