I view it as an option year for a player that has a history of issue on and off the field that appears to be heading down the right path. So instead of getting hammered with dead cap if he fails, the saints have it spread out.

With Run a muck Roger "The Boner" Goodell at the helm of the NFL Kangaroo Court System, teams have to do all they can to protect themselves from his creative half baked, drug induced decisions making.

Now if the he stays on the up and up I am sure there is a contract renegotiation option for both parties as well as an out involved in 2017.

Which for Nick works out perfectly. The saints cap in 2017 is very friendly. I call it a win win
