DAS WUNDERKIND: Are Saints Interested in German Star WR?
The New Orleans Saints are one of several teams interested in getting a closer look at “Das Wunderkind” — German native and European / German International American Football star WR Moritz Boehringer.
According to New Orleans Advocate Saints beat writer Joel A. Erickson, Boehringer, a 6-foot-4, 227-pound wide receiver from Germany, told the Move the Sticks podcast this week that he will visit the Saints next week. DAS WUNDERKIND: Are Saints Interested in German Star WR? |

Re: DAS WUNDERKIND: Are Saints Interested in German Star WR?
I always gonna root a little extra for any European players and this kid really intrigues me. That size/speed combination is extremely hard to find.
He has moved from a very low level of competition to being the best WR in the best league in Europe in a very short time. That tells med he has a pretty good football IQ. I would love for us to take a flyer on him late. I think he is somebody that Brees could make really good. Sow how good is the GFL? Its a little hard to give a straight answer to that. You will read some articles suggesting that the competition doesn't come up to DIII level and so on. The reality thou is that you have a ton of really really good football players over here in Europe, plenty of who could compete at the DII and DIII levels and quite a few that will do well in the FBS too. A team here is quite likely to have a uneven roster thou. Kind of like in high school where you have a couple of athletic stars that get the D1 offers than a bunch of hard working guys that get the D2 and D3 offers and then you have the rest to fill out the roster. Most players over here are not paid but have regular jobs. Usually the only paid players are import players (usually North Americans). |

I don't care if he's from Antarctica. If he can run and catch I'm all for it. We had a European guy once who wound up having a decent career.
