Ezekiel Elliott is no Todd Gurely in his running skills but Todd Gurely is no where near what I would call a complete back.

All the so called experts match him with the perfect team and to my amazement no one talks about what a perfect fit Ezekiel Elliott is with the saints.

Ezekiel Elliott is the first back in a long time that I would be good with since the Duce pick way back in 2001. Since that time the saints have drafted RB in the first round I had other players rated higher and did not see them as a great fit like Elliot.

2006 D'Brickashaw Ferguson over Reggie Bush
2011 Mark Ingram was not on my short list.

last backs i really liked were all well rounded backs.
2014 3-Charles Sims
2015 3-David Johnson 4- Jeremy Langford,

So I do not chase RB in the first often but he could be a perfect fit for the saints and himself. spliyying time with Ingram would reduce some of that high volume wear he had at OSU.

I was just looking at the word elite. Yes, he runs well and catches well, but after watching him blow up people all over the field, I'm thinking he is an elite blocker.

You know I will give him that. he is one of the best blitz pick up RBs I have seen in a long time. So elite blocker works.

But elite blockers never go in round 1. It is the rest of his game that gets him into the top 20. top ten? I do not see it based on previous draft history.

Look at a player like Jalen Ramsey. Top 5 for a player that has never played one position for more than a year and is actually getting drafted based on upside? Top 15 sure. History does not support this pick in the top 10 no mater how much I like him.

what does this tell me? This weak group of elite players in the top 15. But this is a solid draft overall. This might be why we are seeing so many teams trading early and jockeying into position to make possibly another trade to move back up. ie Tenn.

Two things about him though. He could really have some longevity in Payton's pass happy offense. He is that kind of guy who gets stronger as the game gets longer so that could work against him in Payton's pass happy offense. He'd be a killer lead protector though. I honestly don't think he makes it to twelve.
