Robert Meachem works out for Saints, TV station reports
I still want Marques and PT back!
Meachem went through a tryout at the Saints headquarters in Metairie Friday, WWL-TV reported. Meachem told the TV station that he ran 40 yards in 4.48 seconds and that he'll return next month to run routes. Robert Meachem works out for Saints, TV station reports | NOLA.com |
Re: Robert Meachem works out for Saints, TV station reports
Why?
Let's just move on, the guy was decent for a couple years but he's not the sort of guy you bring in to coach younger players. I'd bring Devery Henderson back 100 times before Meachem. Someone like Anquan Boldin or James Jones i'd agree with. |
Re: Robert Meachem works out for Saints, TV station reports
Wouldn't touch Jones with a bargepole but Noldin yes please, especially if they took Treadwell other than Colston he could not find a better tutor

Re: Robert Meachem works out for Saints, TV station reports
Solid guy. Looked past his prime, which was just above average, the last time he played for the Saints.

Re: Robert Meachem works out for Saints, TV station reports
Why would you want PT or Colston back? Obviously there were better options or they wouldn't have parted ways. I loved them too but to keep a player for sentiment is just dumb
And Meach wasn't much more than a role player the last time we had him. This may be a draft smokescreen. |
Re: Robert Meachem works out for Saints, TV station reports
I think he's just trying to prove that he's a solid mid season option in case we have numerous injuries or if a couple of our young guys don't pan out.
He knows the system and probably still has some wheels. Cheap insurance. |

But not good enough where Coleman's volume is concerned. |

We need to get younger, not older.

Look if the guy can run a 4.4 40, I'm ok with him coming to camp. But he has to earn a spot.

Re: Robert Meachem works out for Saints, TV station reports
We've got to have 90 players going into camp. So, why not? We just might need a veteran receiver to compliment these young guys and mentor them.

Apparently I think he was brought in for a picturization.
EJW apparently said on SR saints are looking for the next Meachem and Henderson. |

Do we need him on the field during the season for that? |

Re: Robert Meachem works out for Saints, TV station reports
If he is signed, what happens with Coleman. He makes a play when he doesn't know all game when he will get target? I mean in recent years I don't think we've had the right receivers that can be patient. I don't trust Coleman's patience.

Re: Robert Meachem works out for Saints, TV station reports
I don't see a problem with Meachem getting a work-out. If he is signed, give him a shot to compete during training camp... If he's still good enough to beat someone out, than so be it.
I can't see how anyone can think competition is a bad thing. Competition brings out the best in those involved :bng: |
