Re: 3 Round Draft Predictions
You are both wrong. Isn't this like voting on a poll?

Re: 3 Round Draft Predictions
I did my due diligence with this question and ran a fanspeak 3 round draft. What follows is how the board played out. I ran the simulation 3 times using 3 separate boards.
Round 1 - Shaq Lawson - DE/EDGE - Clemson 2 of 3 simulations had Lawson still in play with the only exception being the 1st simulation that dropped Hargreaves into my lap and I snapped him up. However, with the exception of Hargreaves that simulation was a bust as no DTs or DEs were available in the 2nd round. The more tape I see of Lawson the more I like the kid. He has a quick first move and multiple rush moves(spin, bull, etc.) Lawson is decent but not great against the run and paired with Cam could get double digit sacks in his first season. Round 2 - Vernon Butler - DT - Louisiana Tech I waited on a DT in every simulation and felt good about having Butler there in the 2nd round. I am not sold on Rankins being a top tier D-lineman. DT is so deep this year that Butler would be a top 15 pick in any other year. He is exactly what you want in a runstopping DT. He compares to Muhammed Wilkerson and would give us a solid front 4 with Fairly beside him. Round 3 - Joshua Garnett - OG - Stanford This is where things got tricky. I knew a guard was a must in the first three rounds so I hoped at least 1 of the top names fell in the 3rd round. Garnett and Christian Westerman out of Arizona State were the 2 names to choose from but I am most comfortable with Garnett in a zone blocking scheme. Watch the film and you will see a guy throwing around defenders like rag dolls. He is big, strong and athletic which is what the Saints need in a Guard. |

Rd 1--Jack Conklin OG/OT Michigan State
Rd 2--Chris Jones DT MSU Rd 3-- Adolphus Washington DE/DT, Ohio State |
Re: 3 Round Draft Predictions
Round one: Shaq Lawson
Round two: Billings Round three: Best available Guard |
Re: 3 Round Draft Predictions
As long as we address DE (or pass rush OLB), DT, OG, WR and CB, I really don't care about the names.
They know way more than I do. |
Re: 3 Round Draft Predictions
hey guys, if you have some time, swing by my 1st of what will be many blog posts here: https://obnoxiouswhodat.wordpress.co...016-nfl-draft/ and let me know what you think. It is basically a rehash of what I posted earlier in this thread. I have been trying to get on with profootball focus but decided to just push forward on my own for right now. If this is seen as advertisement and needs to be deleted I understand. Also, any English majors out there want to critique grammar and what not, feel free.

Re: 3 Round Draft Predictions
I was looking at some predictions and their prediction was that Treadwell could fall out of the 1st round. Wow
|
Re: 3 Round Draft Predictions
1. Doctson - True difference maker. Best WR in the draft.
2. OL Kelly - Smart. Leader. Versatile. 3. OLB Cravens - Smart. Genuine football player. |
Re: 3 Round Draft Predictions
With only 6 picks this year and a deep defensive crop of talent, expect a possible trade down scenario for the Saints.
|
Re: 3 Round Draft Predictions
Personally I feel like we can trade our entire draft and pick up the entire 7th round. Yeah we won't be busy the other days, but that last day is ours!

Quote:
Height: 6-5. Weight: 277. 40 Time: 4.86. Projected Round (2016): 1-2. 4/16/16: Sources at some teams are grading Dodd in the second round, but across the league, team contacts expect him to go in Round 1. Dodd had a decent performance at the combine and didn't harm his draft stock. Teams that run a 3-4 defense say they don't see a good fit for Dodd in their scheme and he's really a 4-3 base end. Dodd put an exclamation point on his breakout 2015 season with a tremendous National Championship game against Alabama. He abused the Crimson Tide's right tackle with speed and power to record three sacks of quarterback Jacob Coker. After being buried on the depth chart in previous seasons, Dodd and Shaq Lawson were able to make life hard on quarterbacks in 2015. Dodd totaled 62 tackles with 23.5 for a loss, 12 sacks, and one forced fumble on the year. He had a total of 21 tackles over his previous three years. Quote:
Height: 6-2. Weight: 212. Arm: 32.13. Hand: 10.5. 40 Time: 4.57. Projected Round (2015): 2-3. 4/2/16: Thomas ran slower than expected at the combine. However on his game tape, he displayed an impressive combination of size and speed. Thomas could be the most well-rounded prospect at his position. He can make plays in all levels of the defense. His numbers were suppressed by Ohio State's offense and quarterback situation, but he has mismatch speed and size. Thomas looks like a good fit as an X receiver to challenge defenses vertically along the sideline. In speaking with sources, one team said they agreed with my late first-round, early second-round pick grade for Thomas. Others said they had him in Round 2. So that appears to be his draft range. In 2015, Thomas had 56 receptions for 781 yards and nine touchdowns. He impressed in the season opener with his battling of Virginia Tech cornerback Kendall Fuller. After moving the chains on a third down, Thomas burned Fuller for a 26-yard touchdown on a stop-and-go that Fuller bit on. 8/10/15: Thomas was the Buckeyes' possession receiver in 2014 with Devin Smith serving as the deep threat. Thomas caught 54 passes for 799 yards and nine touchdowns on the season. He also dealt with a running quarterback in J.T. Barrett for much of the year. With Smith in the NFL, Thomas could have a big season if the Buckeyes go with the cannon-armed Cardale Jones as their starting quarterback. Quote:
Height: 6-1. Weight: 226. Projected 40 Time: 4.69. Projected Round (2016): 2-3. 4/16/16: In 2015, Cravens totaled 86 tackles, 15 for a loss, 5.5 sacks, six passes broken up, two forced fumbles and two interceptions. He recorded 68 tackles with 17 tackles for a loss, five sacks, three interceptions and nine passes broken up in 2014. Cravens was moved from safety to linebacker that season, but his best role in the NFL could come as a safety on run downs and a linebacker in passing situations. A good defensive coordinator could get a lot of out of Cravens by moving him around and using him in a variety of ways. The 6-foot-1, 226-pounder is physical, strong and quick. As a freshman, he totaled 52 tackles with four interceptions, one pass batted and a forced fumble. Cravens was named a Freshman All-American and a All-Pac-12 honorable mention. |
Re: 3 Round Draft Predictions
I wouldn't mind Treadwell. Even if our defense gets better it wont matter if our offense loses a step. They will just pretty much cancel each other out. Our offense is the only reason we weren't close to 0-16 last year.
Another weapon for Brees as he gets older will help extend his career. Until now he has gotten it done with virtual no names. He has made average receivers look like above average receivers. It is time to get some above average receivers to make Brees more efficient as he loses accuracy and arm strength. |
