My wish list at 12
OK, some won't be there, but I can dream...
Buckner Bosa Ramsey Jack Lawson Rankins Robinson Reed Floyd Hargreaves Now trading down (but not too far) throws a bunch more in the mix... Spence Billings Butler Dodd Doctson Treadwell Jackson |
Re: My wish list at 12
It's a crap shoot, and one man isn't going to do it alone.
Trade down. Increase the odds is what I say. |
Re: My wish list at 12
Jalen Ramsey, S/CB, Florida State, 6005, 209 4.41
Maybe just maybe and a lot of if ands or buts Ronnie Stanley, OT, Notre Dame 6055 315 5.17 Ezekiel Elliott RB OSU 5115 225 4.47 In a perfect world both would still be on the board Shaq Lawson DE Clemson 6026 270 4.70 Jarran Reed, DT/DE, Alabama 6034 307 5.21 If none are on the board reach? Josh Doctson WR TCU 6020 202 4.50 Laquon Treadwell Ole Miss WR 6020 221 4.64 Trade away is always an option. bottom half of one is not that much different than our next pick in round two |
Re: My wish list at 12
You guys seem to think you can just trade down if you want to. It's damn near impossible unless you're picking in the top 5.

That was Cardinal's pick 20 for the Saints' pick 27 and a third round pick in the 2014 draft... Sometimes personnel decision makers have their man-crushes (Cooks)... |
Re: My wish list at 12
Whoever it is we pick at twelve, I'd hope that...
1) He's a three down player (not a two down run stuffer)... 2) He's not a running back... 3) He's with the team, effectively, for at least nine years... 4) He's an immediate, effective starter... 5) He's not a Pac/West type player that is restricted from OTA's and Minicamps and can acclimate right away... 6) He's not a medical redshirt type and has no medical baggage to limit his start to professional football... 7) And most importantly, He's a football player that loves to play the game and leads by that example... |
Re: My wish list at 12
1. Sheldon Rankins DT Louisville
2. Robert Nkemdiche DT Ole Miss 3. Carl Nassib DE Maryland 4. Vadal Alexander G LSU 5. Rashard Robinson CB LSU 7. Cody Kessler QB USC |
Re: My wish list at 12
I don't think Rankins fits our defense because Payton wants a big run stuffer.

Re: My wish list at 12
Lawson or Dodd instantly make our defense better.
Those two are the only ones that are true starting 43 DEs which should be available at 12. Round 2 I'm hoping Billings is there. |

Trade with the jets for m. Wilkerson and pick Eli Apple or Robert Nkemdiche

Re: My wish list at 12
If we could trade back a few places 15-20 range id be happy. What would we get there
Depending on where and how much a team likes somebody a 2nd ir 3 and 4th. This is one draft i would be happy to throw a future pick at too. Say trade back to 18-20 then use them extra picks and next tears first/2nd to get back into the late first early second. There is alot of defensive talent to be had this year. Could sort the front 7 out easily |

It remains to be seen if such a scenario will unfold this year, but if it does, I'd be all in favor of it. Nobody is going to be available at 12 who is so awesome that we couldn't afford to pass him up in favor of getting more picks, and a better chance of hitting a home run. |

Miami is tabbed for a CB and it looks to make great sense. so anyone wanting their pick of CB will be on the phone to us. perfect trade back and stay in the top 15. thats a 3rd at the least but in what world do the saints trade back? |

The guy i wanted was Deon Bucannon, talk about insult to injury that year for me, he ended up with the Cards at 22. Cook I rated as a toy for SP and nothing more. round 2? SJB instead of Allen Robinson or Jarvis Laundry? I have to stop there. that draft makes me sick still That was a bad trade and the axe was just. Hope we learned our lessons well |
Re: My wish list at 12
I love what Cooks brings but i agree ww should never have moved up in that draft for a WR it was so deep.
As you say Robinson,Benjamin, Landry,Brown and Bryant all went later |

Not impressed with the WR class for 2016 but if I had to select one ...Josh Doctson is my choice (not just saying this because he is right down the road in Ft. Worth). Want a WR to get up and fight for the ball one on one? ... JD. A big, powerful strong dude.

Re: My wish list at 12
Back on topic ... hopefully Ireland and co go in this direction:
DE DT & G. I'll let you guys insert the names. Hopefully the selections will be impact players from day one. Draft day is finally here :drummer: !!!! |

I'm still upset about Les Kelley!

Re: My wish list at 12
I just hope we get the best player available that can contribute this year. I really don't care who it is at this point although I would love to see 2 DT/DE and 1 CB in the 1st 3 rounds
|
Re: My wish list at 12
1. Trade down
2. Elliott 3. Bosa Anyone not sure of Bosa is going to be a bit regretful should he end up in the NFC South. |
Re: My wish list at 12
Some would say trade up and gamble with a player who is higher rated...
Right now if Qb's go 1 and two I say try and trade up to 8 with the Browns. You will have a shot at getting a top 5 player. THe Qb's are not even round one picks IMO. Let teams make a run on QB's and we can snag real top talent. |

In conclusion, I don't know why he's not the highest rated receiver in the draft. Don't want to see the Saints go receiver in the first round, but if strange circumstances lead them that way, I wouldn't mind Doctson. |
Re: My wish list at 12
I wonder how everyone feels about Myles Jack
I he worth picking and stashing on IR (high probablity) for a season? Would you be disappointed? |
Re: My wish list at 12
Danno,
Not less that a minute ago I asked a similar question about MJ (see Draft thread). If he is there at #12, I take him. Drafting for the future and this guy could be a game changer (assuming he is healthy) for years to come. |
