I could live with it. Nick Fairley is the only 3-technique we currently have. Plus, Rankins played the 5-technique at Louisville so he brings versatility. It wouldn't ruin my night but I'd prefer to land an edge rusher.

Who is BPA between him, Lawson, Conklin, and Jackson? Since those will be the best DT, DE, OT, and CB available.

Rankins didn't flash until the Senior Bowl(s);he's only 6'; big guards will stack and pack his arse; it's going to be Sedrick Ellis all over again...

Shaq Lawson? Have a five tech in C. Jordan, we need more of a bigger end (3/4 T) opposite Cam to set that edge and contain, collapse the pocket; Lawson's too small to get it done...

Will Jackson, impressive cornerback; but they're others in the second, third round who probably need less than a season (So. Miss CB Kalan Reed); plus what we've got already...

Conklin represents the best value of the group, but Treadwell is the guy I want in Payton's offense - Jerry 2.0

DT? plenty to be had

I dont see why everyone is talking about Ellis. The similarities are suze. Ellis obviously didn't love football or he wouldn't be three years into retirement at 30. He hot paid big and early,won a superbowl amd retired at 27

What is funny a lot of people saying who we should have taken or hoped we got and then look at who is still on the board of lot of there players have fallen and not even dropping out of round 1.

Rankins wasn't someone I paid much attention to until very late. It's hard to get excited about DT's, considering we suck at picking them. But it was definitely a position of need, so you gotta try it and hope it finally works out.

What I heard about him is that he's really quick. I think Mayock also said he's one of the quickest DT's to come out in the last few years. I think the only thing Donald has on him, from a measurable standpoint, is strength. Not that he's weak at all, but he's probably going to need to beef up a little. I like his explosiveness. I just hope it translates well to the next level.

I don't know a ton about him but he fills a glaring need. I would actually like to see us now keep addressing this position with our next pick and get Reed or Robinson. Rankins, Fairley, Davison, Jenkins and one more high value DT would make a solid rotation. If we can control the line of scrimmage I think we can fabricate pass rush in other ways.

Im good with this pick....need someone who can create pressure up the middle. DT is deep this year...especially space eaters. I still hope we get a pass rusher or even D. Jones from LSU because we need speed in the front 7.

I'm thinking the kid will do good. He can play multiple positions and an EX GM says that the fact he's a "Boring Player" is the best kind of player. No player is without faults, I just hope our Coaching Staff can Coach the kid up like Cam Jordan has been Coached Up.
