Breaux
So I really believed the thoughts on Breaux being a top corner but I was trying to research the week 15 lions game(my goal was seeing why the run game was not working, guard play) and it was not Browner giving up those Tate yards, it was Breaux. And this is concerning because maybe he's not a starting caliber corner yet. Lewis is still our number 1 if healthy. We may be seeing Bell at number 2 corner if Breaux does not learn to lock down number two receivers like Tate in his second year.

Re: Breaux
P.J. Williams might beat both of them out.

Re: Breaux
Sorry Will but you're overreacting. Breaux was supposed to be our nickel CB but due to the Lewis injury and Browner's ineptitude he was thrust into the #1 role and performed very admirably. You have to keep in mind that it was his rookie season. He went from arena football and CFL to shutting down Julio Jones!

Re: Breaux
I looked more into this reading some articles. But I had really thought that was Browner getting burned all game by Tate.

Re: Breaux
I don't think anyone ever expected him to be a number 1 guy. He will get his chance. It will be interesting to see how he does after a year under his belt.

Re: Breaux
When you say it was Breaux giving up those Tate yards, I've just had a look at the stat overview.
Tate finished with 6 catches for 45 yards....the 2 TD's he got is not good but 45 yards is nothing He had his share of up and downs, he struggled some weeks and then had a great game the next. Put any corner out there with last season's Jekyll and Hyde Defensive Line and see how they fair, the line looked like world beaters one week and then high schoolers the next. Just keep in mind it was his rookie season and for a guy who just 5 years ago was feared to have been paralysed, he showed more promise than any defensive rookie we have signed in the Sean Payton era. Any guy that can shut down Julio Jones is a player to get excited about. |
Re: Breaux
Every corner will have issues now and again and Tate is a very good WR imo. How many times did Stevie Johnson give Revis issues at Buffalo and he is a similar level to Tate imo

Re: Breaux
Was that one of the games Breaux fell down (which he's done a few times for TDs) or lost the ball in the air (which he's done a few times for TDs)?
I'm betting Delvin Breaux has a better 2016 than 2015. And that's scary. |
Re: Breaux
Breaux got on my nerves early in the season when he seemed to completely forget where he was at times and would pull a Browner by just grabbing whatever, or whoever he could. But he cleared that up and started showing lock down abilities. He had some bad games (especially against the Giants and Beckham) but overall it was a good showing.

Re: Breaux
Conveniently this little piece of information just popped up on my time line...

Re: Breaux
To transition from Canadian Football to The NFL and be the 10th best statistical CB at seasons end with our woeful passrush is saying something. Oh and he was also matched up with #1 Receivers the entire season. The kids showed talent but more importantly Heart. He's a Keeper.

Pretty good for a rookie. Hope he can keep it up. |
Re: Breaux
I agree that Breaux had some rather less than perfect moments. What I like is he always seems to learn from his mistakes. My opinion of him is he is already an elite CB, another season and he should have all the stats to back that up.
