Saints Sign Four From Minicamp
1 Attachment(s)
The New Orleans Saints found some gems among the 44 players brought in to try out at this weekend’s rookie minicamp. New Orleans signed offensive tackle Tyrus Thompson, a sixth-round pick of the Minnesota Vikings in 2015 who spent time with the practice squads of the Jacksonville Jaguars and Detroit Lions last season.
New Orleans also signed three rookies: former San Jose State cornerback Jimmy Pruitt, former Ferris State wide receiver Jake Lampman and former Air Force tight end and long snapper Garrett Griffin, according to league sources. Because of the four additions, the Saints have to release four players to stay at the NFL’s 90-man roster limit, and New Orleans released wide receiver Shane Wynn, a source told The Advocate. New Orleans must cut three more players to get to the limit. In addition to the signings, the Saints also saw enough out of former Grambling tight end and Metairie native Chris Bazile that he earned another look at the team’s mandatory minicamp in June. More of a old school smash mouth TE who actually can catch. You know he can block coming out of the Citadel. Add in LS duties and he could be a two birds one stone blue collar player for the saints. Grambling WR Rogers, TE Bazile could be steals in NFL All in all a pretty interesting group |

It still perplexes me why teams can't teach this skill to multi-million dollar world class athletes and save a roster spot. There are plenty of Hall of Famers who also were long snappers |

Jimmy Pruitt, camp body? Don't sleep on this kid...He's my upset special for trainging camp...he needs some coaching though and he's got a small window to get it all in before cuts... Jake Lampman, under 6', disciplined route runner, smart, he's got good speed and breaks for some separation; very much like Willie Snead... Garrett Griffin, hopefully he can challenge and give us a young option there; but Coach Payton, from Coach Parcell's school, doesn't want to lose games because of a long snapper, special teams play, so we'll see... Bazile, is 6-4 so he's not coming in with anything special physically; he may push Josh Hill, that's about it... |

Re: Saints Sign Four From Minicamp
Interesting to know some of them are better than what we had already on the roster though.
