Best position for Lelito?
Lelito: Is he better at playing the left or right guard position? I've heard that his strengths are better utilized at right guard which has different responsibilities than left guard does. I thought he looked adequate playing on the right side but having Armstead and Unger on either side would help any player look better. So he may play better there.
Could someone offer insight on what skills differences are best for each position? :bng: |

He did seem to have better grades at right guard which I believe he played in college... But he's a soldier and he'll be the most experienced interior linemen we have after Unger, though he's got more time in the Payton Saints' system than the center... I really like the idea of Unger, Peat, Armstead on the left side; you could really blow sh*t apart with those three... |
Re: Best position for Lelito?
I thought he was better at C than G but he want beat Unger out. Although he's not a stud he's a pretty good swing man, kind of like a jack of all trades master of none. I hope he steps it up a good bit this season playing G.

Re: Best position for Lelito?
He was our 6th highest rated offensive player last year and he played LG.

I can only go by my eyes and he looked best at RG.

Re: Best position for Lelito?
See this is when I scratch my head; Lelito was a former UDRFA - that was an Undrafted Rookie Free Agent from a Division II football program...
Did you expect to him to be named All-Pro his rookie season?!? Tim has progressed brilliantly, outplayed, outlasted many linemen in his class that were drafted... Perspective - Arizona drafted Guard Jonathan Cooper with the 7th pick of that 2013 NFL draft; he just got thrown in with a 2nd rounder to acquire DE Chandler Jones... Not every guard is going to be Steve Hutchinson; Lelito is doing a fine job and has performed better than busted, lazy Grubbs we wasted valuable cap space... And as far as Left or Right, the guy is going to geaux where coach asks him, a rarer quality in today's game; well, I'm just gonna leave this right here... |

Re: Best position for Lelito?
Dont remind me of Grubbs
Carl Nicks one year,Grubbs the next. I said sign Incognito last year as he was available for peauts. Also i would talk to Nicks and see if another year removed from that dirt Tampa locker room if he wants another go round. He had staph and MRSA from that unclean locker room and he is still only 31,id give him a call at least. To be honest it would work as i ssigned him twice on Madden Franchise once with the Jags and once with the Saints and he was good. Damn the Saints suck on Madden, first game of the year let up a 60/70 and 80 yard TD on 3 and long. So life like |

Aren't a lot of people counting on one of our UDFA's to step in and start at guard this year? Or to at least compete. Currently both of our starting guards were UDFA's. Their only competition are this years UDFA's. Considering we used to invest heavily in our guards that's a scary thought. |
Re: Best position for Lelito?
He is better at Run Blocking than Pass blocking by his own admission, hence the reason that he is better at the RG position. The Right Side is always the strong side for running as opposed to the left side is the strongest pass protectors.

I think he is better suited for a Guard if we have to play him there. |

Re: Best position for Lelito?
If Peat is not playing at RT then I fear for Drew's safety. Go ask J.J. Watt what he thinks about Strief at RT.

Re: Best position for Lelito?
I agree with the sentiment regarding Strief, but it is really all on Peat as to whether or not he is starting. This year he has had the benefit of the entire offseason to train and better himself. I mean Strief isn't just going to give him his position and neither will the Coaches. Peat needs to make sure he is ready to win the job from Day 1. If he was smart, he has joined Armstead in training with Willie Roaf.
