My fingers are crossed for Dennis Allen though. He's got the right attitude to build a good defense around. Stern approach while executing the basics flawlessly is a good recipe for success. We have a young defense loaded with potential studs and we have a nice mix of veterans. Welcome back Roman Harper. :cheers:

According to Payton, he let Gregg Williams run the show for that defense. Remember the "bounty" issues that sunk the Saints? He said that was all Williams doing because he wasn't involved with the defense.

As a head coach, if you are hands off and things are working great. But if you are hands off and it isn't working you better get your hands out of your pockets and do something!!!

I also think with Ryan there was also a philosophy conflict with Sean and Ryan.

I don't think Sean had much trust in what Rob was doing either.

a lot of the 3 safety sets we had in 2013 were as much out of necessity as they were strategy
when 3 of your best and healthiest 5 DB's are safeties, yes, you play a 3-safety set
