Re: Kikaha - torn ACL
Just saw it on ESPN. This one hurts seeing we brought on 0 DE's this off season
|
Re: Kikaha - torn ACL
Next man up; Kikaha wasn't going to be an every down player anyway.

Re: Kikaha - torn ACL
Just wondering... Freeny has already rejected a few offers.
I wonder how much he wants? Will he only sign with a legit contender? Will he wait until more injuries occur and ride in on his white horse for mega-bucks? Would he be a good fit here with our mixed schemes? |
Re: Kikaha - torn ACL
I wonder how Glenn Foster's real estate gig is going?? I know a way he could make a couple extra bucks lol.
|
Re: Kikaha - torn ACL
And from what I understand Gwachum bulked up to 260 pounds and was a serious contender to pressure Kikaha for snaps. Looks like he won't have to battle now
|
Re: Kikaha - torn ACL
JP - how many sacks did Freeny have last season? 8??

We could trade for Dion Jordan.

Re: Kikaha - torn ACL
Sad for the young man. Hope he gets well soon. Great motor. Great college player. But, he lacks NFL size as a rush end and didn't have the speed to play OLB. He's never going to be anything but an average role player in the NFL at best.

I also wonder how hard it is to replace a 1-dimensional player? |
Re: Kikaha - torn ACL
Well we all are about to find out

Re: Kikaha - torn ACL
We could go the rest of the season with no real significant injuries. But I know what you are thinking: Step away from the narcotics. Check into rehab forthwith.

Re: Kikaha - torn ACL
So we have the defensive version of Sam Bradford. Oy...

And his only job was to come in and rush the passer - we have that already in Edebali, who had more sacks per plays than Freeney... I'm telling y'all, we've got the talent fellas, we need the coaching on the defense... Only concern I have is/has been was Kikaha injured trying to play like a down lineman with his ill-fitted size or some other way? Hate to see him getting hurt trying to drive square pegs in round holes; don't know that's the case, yet, but certainly hope it wasn't... |
Re: Kikaha - torn ACL
This is his third tear and WOW not again! I'm not going to sound the alarm on our DE's yet but I think we need to get a veteran in here quick! Who's available
|
Re: Kikaha - torn ACL
Circle back to the trenches for a moment ... with the addition of Fairley and Rankins, losing Kikaha won't be as bad as some may think.
The interior D line will be better. On paper, I see a much better group of talent .. not to mention a solid LB core & guys who actually cover TE's with consistency (insert Robertson). |
Re: Kikaha - torn ACL
I believe Thomas Davis has tore the same knee three times also. Also I don't put stock in the average player comments. I mean 19 sacks is 19 sacks. The Same guys he got sacks against in college are now playing in the Pros. Remember when Terrell Suggs was drafted people said that he was too slow also. He seems to be doing alright. I'm just going to pray the kid keeps working hard and comes back even hungrier. I still think he can come back and be a productive player in 2017. Just need Davis Tull and Edebali to step up.

Re: Kikaha - torn ACL
Thomas Davis is doing just peachy. Hopefully the same will be true for Kikaha.

Re: Kikaha - torn ACL
I haven't followed him, but is Hardy with a team or suspended? 1 year deal?

Re: Kikaha - torn ACL
That is bad news. Now for the good news............Edibali, Onyamata, Tull and Gwachum.
Edibali played well last year when he was on the field and should improve. Onyamata is my early favorite for camp beast because he will see more snaps now. Tull is from UTC and was injured which is why we got him later in the draft. He has a ton of potential and has been in the system for a year now. Gwachum is an intriguing prospect and I've read really good things about him and his NFL growth. |
Re: Kikaha - torn ACL
Pineapple Express on ice for a year... sucks, but we have some young guns ready to step up, methinks.

Turns out it was the same knee that was damaged in college. Not good. |

It's a loss, but it's not the end all, hurry back Kikaha. Long way to go to find a replacement.

Re: Kikaha - torn ACL
I can see the Saints possibly targeting someone after all of the final cuts have been made through out the league later this summer.
Often times good players are cut not because they are devoid of talent & ability but because of a teams overall depth at the position. I'm certain Sean/Allen will target one of those players. |
Re: Kikaha - torn ACL
Saints coach Sean Payton believes Hau'oli Kikaha's third torn left ACL is "not necessarily" career ending.
Going on 24, Kikaha tore his left ACL twice in college. In somewhat confusing reasoning for his optimism, Payton said the ACL could be repaired "as if it were the first ACL, not the third." Kikaha is holding off on surgery, but it's inevitable. It's not unheard of to return from three ACL tears, but the odds are sadly against the 2015 second-rounder.
