What is your all-time favorite obscure New Orleans Saints play?
I got into a conversation with a fellow New Orleans Saints fan, and we got into a discussion of our favorite New Orleans Saints play of all time.
For obvious reasons, Tracy Porter's game-sealing interception of Peyton Manning in the Super Bowl was the number one choice. To even get to Porter's interception, we have to talk about "Ambush," the onside kick to start the second half. By proxy, Garrett Hartley's field goal in overtime against the Vikings and Porter's pick of Favre to force overtime (both in the NFC Championship Game) were up there in importance. Steve Gleason's blocked punt in the Saints' return to the Super Dome after Hurricane Katrina will always have a special place in our hearts as Saints fans. Re: What is your all-time favorite obscure New Orleans Saints play?
obscure plays:
McCray hitting Warner Fake FG with Szaro lining up right-footed instead of left (1977) any Manning run for your life scramble that ended in an underhanded throw Mills stripping an Eagles QB and taking it all the way |
Re: What is your all-time favorite obscure New Orleans Saints play?
Its Aaron Brooks' first year and we were playing the 49ers. Two defenders crashed in on him from each side, literally jumping on top of him. Somehow he squeezed out of there and threw a bullet to Willie Jackson for a touchdown. At that time I would've believed he could walk on water.

Deuce and the offensive line overpowering the Eagles defense and pushing into the end zone from 5 yards out in the 2006 playoff game.

The play that came to mind was during Bums tenure when Dirt Winston interception on Monday night to seal our first 8-8 season.

Re: What is your all-time favorite obscure New Orleans Saints play?
That Meachem strip (vs Redskins) & subsequent TD was amazing. Things just fell our way. What a magical season.

Inexplicably Mia called timeout, and SP was going to kick the FG, but Brees talked him out of it. Reggie had a few insane plays in that one too |

Re: What is your all-time favorite obscure New Orleans Saints play?
Wasn't there a game where a Saints player - I think it was Joe Horn - scored a TD toward the end of the game but ball came loose and they ruled it a touchback and the Saints lost? That one springs to mind.

Malcolm Jenkins strip recovery of Roy Williams on ThanksGiving, made my whole 4 day weekend great.

Re: What is your all-time favorite obscure New Orleans Saints play?
Archie Manning sliding down the left side of the offense at the goal line and forcing his way over the goal line; against the Rams in their blue and white uniform.... see it like it was yesterday.

Re: What is your all-time favorite obscure New Orleans Saints play?
When every Saints players lateraled the ball to each other and actually scored. I don't think the ball has been touched that many times by that many players on any team and scored without a penalty. It was a thing of beauty to watch, had me out of my seat watching it.

Re: What is your all-time favorite obscure New Orleans Saints play?
Saints vs Rams - Fourcade throws an INT, Rams player fumbles at the 20 and Fourcade runs it back 80 yards for a TD
There's another one I'm thinking of with Fourcade throwing a deep pass while Walsh is walking off the field or something like that |

Baurnhart punts against the Rams, it hits at the one and goes in the end zone well everyone thinks it's a touchback until a Ram runs it back 105 yards for a touchdown
