Second-year Saints cornerback Damian Swann believes he’s put concussion problems behind him
A lot of people have ideas about what’s best for Damian Swann.
Their ideas are rooted in good intentions. The Saints’ second-year cornerback saw his rookie season cut short by three concussions suffered in a span of nine weeks, a streak of injury that has left some wondering if the long-term implications of concussions could force Swann to think about taking off his helmet for good. Swann gets it. “A lot of people just want to see me healthy,” Swann said. “A lot of people want to see me do things and be OK beyond football. Everybody has their concerns, everybody has their worries, but at the end of the day, the decision is going to be pretty much my own.” Second-year Saints cornerback Damian Swann believes he’s put concussion problems behind him | The New Orleans Advocate — New Orleans, Louisiana |

I like Swann and I think he could be great, but if he gets another concussion this year he should call it a day. Last thing he wants (and he's too young and idealistic to see this) is to spend the remainder of his years with headaches, vision problems, depression and/or panic attacks

Hopefully he 's learned how to play smart and not lead with his head. If he has two more concussions then it's possibly time to step back and retire. Football is a rough sport and I'm willing to let him decide what the magical number is before I make him stop.

As a saint's fan I would want him back out there cause of his talent but as a father with a son, I would encourage him to sit out a year or two if not just walk away from this profession

I hope so because he's a very talented player, I think his play surprised a lot of people, he was viewed as a camp body by some because he was drafted in the fifth round.
Let's hope there's no more concussions and plenty more years of Swann on our team. |

Swann can play and has swagger. Hopefully those concussions from last year were just a string of bad luck and are behind him. |
