New Orleans Saints History officially began on November 1 –All Saints Day– in 1966. New Orleans was awarded the NFL’s 16th franchise and by the end of the year oilman John W. Mecom Jr became majority stock holder and named Atlanta Falcon offensive co-coordinator Tom Fears as head coach. Before then Fears had been on staff at Green Bay and Los Angles.

We beat the Eagles, Redskins and yes the Falclowns!

We went undefeated in pre-season and everyone thought we were really gonna be something. Mecom was the main reason we never had a winning team in those early years.

In June of 1967 my family moved from South Dakota to Bossier City, Louisiana and as a nine-year-old I officially began my career as a loyal Saints fan.

I was nine at the time. Nine years later I moved to Louisiana(when I was old enough to drink) and a Saints fanatic was born. :bng:

Born in New Orleans and lived in the surrounding area for all of my life.
(Google Earth 3617 Clifford Drive Metairie LA this is exactly where I grew up till 1958-1983)

I remember all the low lights of the 60-76. 1978 & 79 were good but 1980 was the worst.
