Rita Benson LeBlanc says she will remain a partial owner of the New Orleans Saints and Pelicans despite a recent settlement over ownership of the city's two major professional sports teams, according to a story published Monday in Street and Smith's Sports Business Daily.

"No matter what happens in the litigation," Benson LeBlanc told reporter Bruce Schoenfeld, "I'll still be a partial owner."



The comments are Benson Leblanc's first since she and her mother and brother were ex-communicated by Tom Benson in December 2014 as the result of a bitter, high-profile family squabble.

On June 17, Benson, 88, reached a settlement agreement in his legal fight to take away ownership in the Saints and Pelicans from his estranged heirs, avoiding a federal trial that was scheduled to start June 20.

The terms of the settlement, including whether any shares of the teams will stay in the heirs' trust funds, have not been disclosed.
