Saints and the NFL Draft

For those of you who are thinking Brandon Browner-CB-Oregon State is a sure fire first round pick because of name recognition, think again. He was not impressive in Indianapolis at the combine. Here are some numbers for you to consider:

Ht: 6034
Wt: 221
Reps: 13
40: 4.68 and 4.73(electronic times)
Vertical: 36.5"

Although these are just his workout numbers, the bottom line is that this kid's body control and straight line speed will be killers for a CB in the NFL. I am not big on these monsterous sized CB's.

Other CB's to consider:

Ronald Bartell-CB-Howard
Ht: 6012
Wt: 211
Reps: 21
40: 4.43 and 4.46(electronic)
Vertical: 35.5"

Marlin Jackson-CB-Michigan
Ht: 6005
Wt: 198
Reps: 23
40: 4.58 and 4.62(Electronic)
Vertical: 36"

Carlos Rogers-CB-Auburn
Ht: 6003
Wt: 196
Reps: 15
40: 4.46 and 4.50(electronic)
Vertical: 40.5"

Justin Miller-CB-Clemson
Ht: 5096
Wt: 201
Reps: 15
40: 4.49(twice/electronic)
Vertical: 41.5"

Stanford Routt-CB-Houston
Ht: 6013
Wt: 193
Reps: Didn't bench-Own Choice
40: 4.39(twice/electronic)
Vertical: 36.5"

Fabian Washington-CB-Nebraska
Ht: 5104
Wt: 188
Reps:18
40: 4.33 and 4.37(Electronic)
Vertical: 41.5"

Stanley Wilson-CB-Stanford
Ht: 5116
Wt: 186
Reps: 14
40: 4.42 and 4.40(electronic)
Vertical: 39.5"

These are all players who have peaked my interest. Miller and Washington are both underclassmen. I know they really like Stannford Routt and he could be an option with our early second round pick. He's a big CB with amazing speed and athleticism. He's still raw, but has a ton of upside and he could be a nice addition as athleticism in our secondary.

I can always rund own other positions, but CB seems to be what everyone was talking about earlier in another thread. I still think the first round pick will be a LB or an OT regardless of who we sign in FA. Will be interesting to see what direction we go in.

Great job CanLoomis. Can you do the linebackers for us? Thanks.

browner is being picked as the bust of the draft.
later this afternnon I\"m gonna try to post what I think that the aaint\'s should do..but it goes a little something like:
trade howard for picks, sign smith at safety-in the first grab davis and merriman, and later (3rd) grab Munoz at tackle or britt. In the second grab the best cb available.

Hey I am on the Browner bandwagon, but I wouldn\'t be opposed to a Marlin Jackson or Corey Webster in the second, if they last to our pick.

However....the combine is still the most overrated event in all of pro football. It\'s all about what players do in pads on Sunday afternoon.

everything I\'m reading on browner says he should never have come out...and if you go back and look at his stats there probably right.

plus CB is the hardest position to get a read on in the draft-or so says randy Mueller.

If randy Mueller speaks people should listen. If Randy says the sky is Pink then in my world the sky is pink.
