Why do you say no way? Defense went from the bottom to #4 in Ryan's first year.

I agree with the #4 ranking but even being a 4th ranked D that year they didn't look that good as a whole. Rankings are overrated to me anyway. As long as we can field a stout D this season I'll be happy. I don't care where we rank.

I think our guys are a bit new and haven't been working together as long as RR defense. We had a lot of veterans. It was also kind of an anomaly that year. Improvements like that are rare.

Turnovers are about the only stat that directly translates into wins.

How can I argue with that? The 2009 season tells that. I loved that season.

I would say points scored is a more important stat both for the offense and defense. If the opponents offense can't score then we can't lose.

I'm drinking the Kool-aid...

My cherry flavor is still in the pack, for now. It's next to the spoon, glass and water just in case.

Tuesday, Aug. 9 (Patriots joint practices) & subsequent pre season game next Thursday will be quite telling.

I'm hopeful that Brady plays a drive or two. We need to see what our defensive group can do against real competition & good coaching.

It will make for a start.

I love to watch the daily QB competitions too. Todays was great when they picked some kids from the crowd to join them.

Saints QB Challenge for August 4

That what make our team great. Win or lose, they have the characteristic and genuine caring personalities that rub off unto each other

That won't make a team great.

Exactly. Yes we would all love a bunch of players that help old ladies across the street and eat all their vegetables but I would rather players that pushed old ladies down if it translates into wins. Assuming they aren't locker room problems.

I'd rather root for players I like but that's just me.

You need some players with a attitude. Its just finding the right balance. The defense especially could have done with some nasty players out there
