WR Tommylee Lewis impressing Saints after recommendation from Bill Parcells

Text messages at 4 a.m. are usually either really good or really bad news.
For New Orleans Saints rookie wide receiver Tommylee Lewis, those 4 a.m. alerts are tips from former NFL coach Bill Parcells. Parcells saw Lewis play at William T. Dwyer High in Palm Beach Gardens, Fla., and Lewis said he and the legendary coach have stayed in contact over the years. "We text back and forth, here and there," Lewis said. "He likes to text early in the morning, like 4 in the morning." http://image.nola.com/home/nola-medi...566-mmmain.jpg Parcells, who is friends with Lewis' high school coach, also vouched for another Dwyer High player, Jacoby Brissett, the former North Carolina State quarterback selected by the New England Patriots in the third round this year. And when Lewis was going through the draft process as an under-the-radar prospect from Northern Illinois, Parcells reached out to Sean Payton, his former pupil, to recommend the 5-foot-7 receiver to the Saints — albeit with a warning that Lewis wouldn't be tall. "This was his guy," Payton said. "So, I don't know that we had great exposure with the tape, but we signed him right after the draft. And, shoot, I'm glad we did." read more |

He's 5'6" on one site. Not blazing speed either. Severe long shot even with an amazing preseason.

Re: WR Tommylee Lewis impressing Saints after recommendation from Bill Parcells
does he have the heart and desire to make the most of his God given talents? hardest thing to measure and the saints seem to do a good job at chasing down these type of players.
Payton also compared Lewis to former NFL receiver David Patten David Patton? That is a huge statement. Patton may not have had all the glory but when Brady needed those key yards at any time in a game, Patton was his man. Mr Reliable |

The 5'7 thing will turn other teams off, should be able to sneak him onto the practice squad then.

Green Beret Brian Decker thinks he can improve success rate of NFL first-round draft picks

Parcels go on a coke diet to try and lose weight? I'd be pissed at 4 am texts even if it was from Parcells.

Re: WR Tommylee Lewis impressing Saints after recommendation from Bill Parcells
Just get open, then catch the ball.
Sounds simple enough. Coleman's window is closing. FAST! If TommyLee is showing more promise and upside, Payton has already proven he will give a "player" a chance. Players make plays. I'm hearing about the drop-sies with Coleman. That won't leave a good feeling in a coaches gut. BobbyH also commented on Colemans timidity at the catchpoint for a player his size. Give me the best 5. If you can't get it done in practice, the BIG lights might be too much. The game slows down for the good ones; way too much happening for the rest. As much as we throw the ball, we need guys that can actually make plays. |

This guy will make the team. Beerman 2.0. Murphy might be traded if not released, too many Rb on depth chart. Daniel Lasco make it on ST.

Very small with average speed. Watching his college highlights he is pretty nifty with the ball, he has lots of confidence and plays aggressively for his size. He seems to be a body catcher and an average route runner. Maybe Peyton can figure a way to use him. He's fun to watch.
