The future look bright!!
I love all the hype I am hearing surrounding all of our new guys and young guys. Looks like we have some talent piling up. It's even better that we seem to have youth that can legitimately contribute at skill positions. In a couple years we could have a pretty sick team with good cap space. I was worried that when Drew retired we would have several key holes to fill in addition to the QB. Now we have time to get receivers and defensive backs settled into schemes so when a new QB comes in he will be dealing with consistency right off the bat as opposed to having to build. If you are looking for another positive to take from camp this is it. Looks like we could possibly have a lot of trade bait if we need it a couple years from now. Sex.

The Future Looks Bright....
Oh yea... 4 offensive turnovers with NONE for the defense. We average 2 yards per carry and they average over 5. Hopefully the season isn't like watching this video for 3 hours for 19 more games. https://i.sli.mg/ZV1cxn.gif |

Re: The future look bright!!
I've only seen the punt return.
He looked a good punt returner coming out of college. Either way Cadet offers little imo on returns or in game Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk |
Re: The future look bright!!
Hands up on Murphy
I didnt see the punt return live only replays and the replay just showed his good gain. Hadn't seen he'd muffed it originally Far too many sloppy plays around last night Sent from my SM-G900F using Tapatalk |
Re: The future look bright!!
Agreed lee. I am not as optimistic as some on the board, but there were definitely some positives, especially Thomas.

I don't know what kool-aide everyone is drinking but I seen nothing that leads me to believe we are improved over last year.
Yeah there are a couple of players that looked like we did well in the draft with but we do that every year or so. |

Nothing?? Rankins speed and quickness off the line? Davison push into the backfield? Edebali ability to sack the QB by 3 Mississippi? Waay less defensive penalties throughout the game? Inside run, ability from Danny Lasco? Erik Harris (safety) ability to close on the defender in space? Jack Allen looked good in the second half @ the center position. PJ's instinct to make a play on a screen ?? How about TommyLee on that jet sweep (2 point conversion)? We have far more than a couple of players that are improved this year @ pre season game #1 vs last season. This team is headed in the right direction (specifically on defense), but to say you have seen nothing is quite surprising. |
Re: The future look bright!!
Im watching the first half now.
Bad KO timke for me last night so only saw the 2nd half. If nothing else was seen last night the improvment on 3rd Downs was there to see. Got gauged a couple of times on the run but look better overall. Nobody is saying this is the second coming of the early 2000 Ravens but with this offense it doesnt need to be. get somewhere in that 12-20 realm and the Saints will win more than they loose. Plenty to work on,a pissed off coach but some good spots too. Dont want everything looking pretty through the start of preseason. that normally goes to players heads. Keep them hungry until September |
Re: The future look bright!!
Anyone forgetting that Brees was only in the game for three plays?

I agree. We definitely have some players that are definitely better than what we previously have had. The Pre Season isn't really the best indicator, simply because we didn't even face Brady, Edelman or Gronk last night. However, I will admit our 1st Team D looked more cohesive than last year. And the new front four on D, definitely had more pressure. I'll wait until Preseason Game #3 to make my judgment. |

Re: The future look bright!!
Some of the players looked great and it's easy to get excited but I understand the posters that are not impressed with what they saw. Just my opinion but last years biggest problem on defense was stopping the run and there wasn't anything Thursday night to suggest they've gotten any better.
2015 vs run - 4.9 ypa Thursday vs run - 5.0 ypa I'll remain optimistic and believe they'll get better as they gel. |
Re: The future look bright!!
The other thing about the future looking bright...
We aren't set up to win in the future we are set to win NOW. Bree's isn't getting any younger. We don't have a replacement on our roster for when he does that was evident. Our future looks like 8-8, 7-9, 8-8, 8-8, 7-9. |

I mean you can even say nothing really matters until we see them in regular season games. All we have to really judge is the guys who are on the bubble of making this team. Some of them looks great but you can also see the issues that have plagued us over the past few years still here and that should still cause for concern. |

this team has got to get over the penalty/turnover and lack of takeaway stereotype in order to be competitive. |
Re: The future look bright!!
It looks bright, but only if...
They find a way to get on the + side of the turnover ratio, They run stop a lot better, They open field tackle like the other guy stole something... Brees stays healthy. |
Re: The future look bright!!
The front four gives me hope for a bright future.

Re: The future look bright!!
Quick takes from rematching the game, don't know his name but #63 Liked his play #58Gwacham has a ways to go #75 Andrus Peat got handled by Chris Long majority of the time & our Oline overall is to be questioned #52 Robertson looked a little slow one Pre-season game so I'm not going to worry to much but we have some work to do
|
Re: The future look bright!!
Marcus Murphy looked pretty good too along with TommyLeeLewis
|
Re: The future look bright!!
Not everyone played and this is the first preseason game. I'm not ready to say the the future looks bright but I'm not ready to say it doesn't. I was impressed by how comfortable Garrett Grayson looked under center & they scored twice with him in the game. If the remainder of the preseason doesn't show improvement on both sides of the ball I will have an unsettling feeling about the regular season.

Re: The future look bright!!
Yep, not point in continuing. 0 - 16 coming up. Start the "I told you we should have drafted.........." Shut the board down now! I think I'll go kick some tires and see what's left in the tank.........
