I'm really crossing my fingers for two young men in particular to do well in camp & make the final 53 (MM a second season)... Devante Harris & Marcus Murphy (saw them a lot at Texas 6A playoffs).

Devante was very good at Mesquite Horn High & Murphy was a kick return threat every time he touched the ball at Desoto. These guys have come a long, long way.

Onyemata is getting some first team reps at DT. Lined up next to Davison on running downs and next to Fairley on passing downs.

I see on Nola.com that Nick Fairley has already had two QB sacks on the Oweiler dude.

Fairley has 2 sacks on Osweiler today

De'vante Harris has two pass breakups, one of them on De'andre Hopkins.

Entire team just carted off field on a flatbed.

Carted off?? Man, what?!!!!

Maybe it's a long a#@ walk to the medical facility from practice field?

Jesus Christ, nearly all of our DB's are being carted off.

No other team deals with this many injuries, what the hell are we doing.

Re: PreSeason Week 2: New Orleans Saints @ Houston Texans

I swear to God if Breaux has an injury that will keep him out for a significant amount of time then I will lose all optimism for this season.

Re: PreSeason Week 2: New Orleans Saints @ Houston Texans

Let's blame it on the Houston humidity and heat for now. Hopefully these guys were just tired and going in for fluids. That's my positive spin on it for now.

dizzle88 08-18-2016 11:13 AM

Re: PreSeason Week 2: New Orleans Saints @ Houston Texans

Apparently Breaux pulled up on a coverage of hopkins, so it sounds like a hamstring issue.

I feel my excitement for this season dwindling very, very quickly.

Our injury report nearly has more players than a 53 man roster.

Good thing we have Crawley and Harris because at this rate they'll be our starters come week one lol.

Really believe the problem is the pussification of the NFL by the NFLPA...

These guys need to be training year-round, in the heat and humidity where they reside, not in some high altitude luxury resort...

Could go along with having training camp in Junction, Texas with conditioning drills run by Marine or Airborne PT instructors...

You can't play a sport like football and go to a spa afterwords for recovery...

Completely disagree
One of the issues is how fit and muscular the players are. They habe gotten to big and too fast for ligaments to cope

Know Marks says no, but the timing in the running game hasn't had a chance with Armstead just coming back this past week, and the shuffling of the guards...

Of course it hasn't been a challenge, our D is filled with 3rd stringers because our starters can't run without getting injured.

Lee, understand the science which you allude; medicine, physiology and kinesiology have really advanced...

But if you're going to apply the scientific method, we had Saints as big and fast thirty years ago as today's Saints, but Mora's Saints were alot tougher...

Jim Mora may have been an idiot when it came to game planning, game management, putting all the stress on that terrific defense; but his Saints were a tough, mean lot...

Opposing teams were physically whooped after a 3+ hour engagement with the Saints...

And as you suggested, it is the conditioning...

Saints players dreaded Mora's training camps. I remember that the 1st camp was so brutal that some players suggested that it may have worn them out towards the end of the season, so he backed down the next year. But one thing's for sure... his teams were tough. Mora molded them in his Marine image.

That's accurate to what the players said, but, again, those teams were fast, tough, and no one wanted any part of the Saints...

After all Del Breaux has been through, the hard work, the recovery, hoping he has an All-Pro year!

I hope Breaux plays only a series or two. Those young rookies (Crawley, Harris, Pruitt, TommyLee) need as much playing time and evaluation as possible.

Well, it'll probably be heresy to some fans here, but with the depth of candidates we have available this year - I'd consider moving Keenan Lewis off the active roster (i.e. Injured-Reserve, Trade, Release) rather than tying up a roster spot on the presumption that he may return to previous form...

Had Rankins not been injured and poised for a likely return, Lewis would almost certainly be a candidate to IR and bring back later in a shortened season for the grizzled vet...
