Re: DT Nick Fairley looking like an active, athletic starting option for Saints
I'm hoping Fairley's disruptions up front in the middle turn into
some back-end improved play and opportunities for turnovers. I think it all begins and ends up front; on both sides of the ball. With no run stop - safeties and corners expend too much energy in run support. Ok once or twice, but all that banging takes its toll in the 2nd half. Those guys are not built for that kind of contact and still have burst to cover. No pass rush - no chance to cover #1s and 2s for more than 4 seconds. Single-double moves ok. Triple moves are too much when given that much time. Fairly looks to be a great addition to sure up the middle. Now we just need our cornerbacks to start playing the ball. |
