I\'ve changed my mind about Hartwell. I want him really bad now. I\'m friicking desperate for a LB. ANY proven one would do.
We just can\'t go into 2005 with Hodge/Ruff/Rodgers/Knight/ and Smith still on this roster.
We can\'t...can we?
:weepy:

We could..and just might...but...the bright side is...even if we get a different position with the 1st pick..we still have the 40th..and we can still get a quality guy from that pick...

Chances are, if we don\'t end up signing a LB through F.A....will will likely(hopefully) get a LB in the 2nd round...MAYBE in the first if you believe in miracles...haha

I want him too. We\'ve all been shouting LB on this board - and some of us have been doing it literally for years.

If Saints management can\'t figure that out, I won\'t be up for any season tickets, that\'s for damn sure.

I just don\'t understand it. Haz was a friggin\' LB, for Chris\'sake. Does he feel the position is just that unimportant, neglible? Unnecessary?

$12 million to sign on the line for a guy that has never made a probowl. beisbol like. but i do give the vikes credit for putting a big push on turning a porous defense around. can ya imagine dj added to them at pick #7? (tho i think someone would trade with tn for him at #6) they do have money but that sorta defensive push is what is needed in nawlins even if not on a smoot scale.

Everyone has said we needed to get Hartwell and others, but could Gleason leaving be a factor on special teams? We usually have an awesome ST but without Gleason would it falter? I personally would like to trade down in the 2nd and get Morrison, who I think would be a DROY choice IMO.

It\'ll be sad to see Gleason go.

The Hartwell thing sucks. I think we get Witherspoon or make the Howard trade for a proven backer (like Urlacher... ;) ) or we may be in some trouble.

Smoot was a little unrealistic for us in terms of money though. Dyson is still available and a lot of others who can play the nickle (if you think Brown is serviceable, which I do).

Our options are dwindling... I don\'t like it.

WE really need Gleason, like the article said he is our Special Teams ACE!

When was the last time McAfee blocked a punt? It\'s been three seasons running for Gleason....

Anyone remember how much better the Special Teams coverage got when the Saints resigned McAfee mid-year, last season? It\'s amazing the difference that one \"ace\" can make. I don\'t know why the Saints are letting Gleason leave, but I think it is unwise.

On LB - I have about zero expectation that the Saints will do anything to improve the position. They haven\'t for 5 years now, why do you all expect it this year? The need now isn\'t any bigger than it has been in the past. Personally, I think it\'s less of a need this season than in past years. That doesn\'t mean that it isn\'t the Saints BIGGEST need - it is. But Allen, Watson, Buckwoldt seems like a better lineup to me than Hodge, Ruff, Rodger (which is what we were looking at this time last off-season). They might sign a guy you\'ve probably only heard of once or twice, and they may draft a guy in the third round, but I wouldn\'t expect much more than that. If they do, great, bonus, but as usual with the Saints - they\'ve way in debt to me in the credit area. I have to see it to believe it. As one writer wrote a while back (I\'m paraphrasing), the Saints bought good will and faith on credit and now the bill is past due.
